Rooms are very old and a bit dirty. Too expensive for what you are getting. Bad neighborhood. Find something closer to baywalk..

New Solanie Hotel, Malate, Philippines

The person in charge did not want to give me a room with the specifications as per the booking, he said they only had a kitchen room with the specifications. I had to request him many times to ring a manager to sort out the problem. After over an hour, he gave me the room specified in the booking as a good gesture.

Hotel Solanie: It is Inexpensive for a reason.

Posted May 12, 2011 on Hotels
I reserved this hotel because I just needed an inexpensive place to stay in Manila. I flew in that evening and was flying out the next morning. The hotel and building was sufficient for the price and taking into consideration that this is Asia. I felt like everyone there was pressuring me for a tip ever time I took a step. The bellman tried to hustle me as well. I had requested that they call a metered taxi cab for me in the morning. When I came down stairs they had a "private" van waiting for me- which charged twice the price. I did not have time to make different arrangements so I grudging paid the inflated price. Next time I will pass on this hotel.
