Beautiful property, amazing restaurant, lovely pool and bar area. Check-in was very warm and welcoming. Our one bit of upset was that our room AC shut off during dinner, and the room was very warm when we came back. There was no info available and no obvious way to fix this, and the in-room thermostat wasn’t working (no power). We called reception at 10:30 and were told there was no one in the building who could fix our AC. Finally another family member staying at the parador came over and with four people systematically flipping switches and checking fuses in a fuse box, we finally got the air to come on after 20-30 minutes. At a parador, I would hope not to have to do such electrical work ourselves, without assistance. Other than that incident, we had a lovely stay.

Looking forward to coming back again
Once you open the huge ancient for, you enter a gorgeous, sparkling clean hall to check in. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Our window opened onto a beautiful garden. Being early, we checked out the bar and had a drink in it's charming courtyard before walking through the village. Dinner was delicious, with local specialties as well as typical Spanish fare. Dessert was out of this world!!

Truly wonderful Parador in 16th century convent. Lovely public areas, good restaurant, free parking outside. Rooms usual Parador standard. Almagro is a small town with an excellent Plaza Mayor.

Great Location
A great hotel in a great location. The food in the restaurant was great but could have been warmer. Apart from that our stay was excellent overall. There is plenty to see in town and all within walking distance.

The property is very well maintained. It is like staying in a museum. The room was clean and wide. Parking was free and secure. The gardens are very pretty too. It is also in a quieter part of Almagro, but very close to the plaza and all the action.

Classy but!!!
The Parador itself was amazing, a beautiful building and superbly kept. We only stayed one night whilst travelling to the south of Spain. It was very near our main route and in a pretty little town. Easy to find and bars and restaurants nearby. We had a lovely room, but unfortunately no air conditioning. The beds were very hard and the sheets very stiff. Neither of us slept very well. Breakfast was good. Plenty of free parking. Shame, great place.

Love this Parador!!
This was my second stay in two years at this Parador in the small town of Almagro. Not much to do in the town but it is an extremely nice place to stay along my route of travel. The room is clean and quiet. The meals are excellent and the ambience of the ancient convent converted into a Parador is really nice.

This Parador has same feel as others, but has less spectacular surroundings areas, such as those in Siguenza and Jaén. Still, it has a peaceful atmosphere and the staff is courteous.

Disappointing stay
I had stayed at a parador previously and had a fantastic experience and was excited to take my husband to one. I paid for a hotel with a pool as we like to swim but although this hotel had a pool we were told that as it was 1st October we couldn't use it as it was closed after September even though it was baking hot weather! Also we asked for a double bed as we have not long been married and were told that unless we booked a suite there were no double beds in the hotel and we were unable to push the beds together as there was a fixed bedside table between them. In addition, we could not get the air conditioning to work so the next morning we explained that there was a problem with it and the receptionist was very dismissive and told us it did work. We explained that there were no instructions in the room and he shrugged his shoulders dismissively. Also dirty glasses were not washed and no clean towels provided. I felt quite disappointed that I had told my husband how amazing this was going to be and it was a very poor experience. In our holiday this was the most expensive hotel and the worst experience.

Beautiful renovated hotel in old Almagro
My wife, 14 year old daughter and myself stayed in one room at the Parador de Almagro in August 2016. We arrived a little late to enjoy the pool, but we did get a chance to relax by it for a bit and go for a nice swim. Beautiful pool and surroundings. I wish it was open a little later than 8:30 and a little earlier than 11:00. The property is fantastic - an old renovated convent. It has multiple, well-kept courtyards and all are beautiful. One court watts is attached to the very nicely appointed bar and one courtyard is set up flas the dining area. We did not eat here, but both the menu and the location looked perfect. The facilities and rooms were very nice and the management has obviously put a lot of thought into keeping the old charm alive. Hallways are extremely well decorated and unique. Each room has a uniquely painted room number. I believe there are only about 50 rooms, which is perfect. The rooms have great character. Ours was very spacious and everything was updated and modern. As per the character, windows were small, but unique and charming. Here was a fridge, tv, hair dryer and all other regular amenities. My only negative comment would be that the room had two twin beds - as per the original set up, I expect. There was a roll away brought in for my daughter. This was all fine, but I would have appreciated a double or queen bed for my wife and myself. The hotel is very beautiful. It is a short, nice walk to the main square in Almagro.

How Lovely
A converted convent. It was a hot day. Close to the town centre. Beautiful from the outside with pond and fountain. Inside the thick stone wall and tiled floors make it cool and pleasant. The rooms were almost unchanged. very clean. Looked out over a shady garden full of tress and birds singing. Dined in the courtyard which they open up, they have small pools with running water which adds to the atmosphere. It was a very pleasant experience.

Very good hotel in a very nice town
We were very pleasantly surprised by Almagro which is a lovely place to wonder around and a great stopover point between Madrid and the South. The parador is delightful and has a fantastic pool (much larger than it looks on the site!) though unfortunately apparently only open - like many outdoor unheated Spanish hotel pools - from July to September. Excellent breakfast as long as you stick to Nespresso rather than order a pot of tasteless coffee).

Fabulous stay
At the start of our holiday to Spain my husband and I with another couple stayed for 2 days at the Parador. It was fabulous. The bedrooms were spacious with really comfortable beds and a spotlessly clean bathroom. We ate breakfast at the Parador which was a real feast so we ate there the 2nd morning too. We did not eat in the restaurant because we wanted to spend time in the lovely square in Almagro but we did have drinks in the courtyard. A little disappointed that the swimming pool was being renovated as it would have been good to have had a swim but as it was only for 2 days it wasn't that important.

Great dining comfortable clean and good parking
We chose this Parador because our first choice hotel nearby had only street parking. As it happened and having seen it that would have been ok but the Laradir has of street parking which was good. Having changed our minds we wondered but the Laradir was excellent. We have stated in lots of Paradors and whilst the history and architecture of this wS not exceptional it was good. However in particular this one has an excellent chef. Far far better than any other we have stated in so the set meal with choices was just fabulous as were the staff including the bar. In addition Almagro itself is fabulous and the Plaza Mayor stunning and is surrounded by little bars and cafes where we had our breakfast it's on the route of Don Quijote which adds to its appeal but overall we loved this Parador. Though we shall try the Casa Rural Grande also next time and reluctantly park on the street. This Parador is however a 'must return' hotel

Almagro is a very friendly town
Very nice Parador. Easy to walk into Almagro. We had a very pleasant one night stay on the way from Seville to Toledo. Had delicious tapas and beer on Plaza Mayor, and enjoyed our visit to the open courtyard theater from the 16th century.
