So close yet so far

Posted Mar 17, 2018
Boat ramp is only day light hours yet you still need to go get the key from the office. There is "boat parking" but they let everyone park there so you can't actually pull a trailer through. Only one grill on the whole premises. They steal 13.50 a night from you for "amenities" that are non existent. Plus a 4 person room cost you 35$ per person for ever guesr after two people. Just over deceitful advertising. Overall disappointment. Great room though. And great house keeping.

While most other locations that offer a Boat Ramp & Parking charge for that use, we offer it as part of the Resort Fee that we have which also includes Continental Breakfast for your entire party, use of Beach Bicycles, WiFi, Fitness Room & more. Rates are quoted for up to 2 persons & there is typically a charge for a 3rd & 4th person which is an industry standard. If you book a room for 4 persons you will get a rate for that many persons but there are those that book a room for 2 & try and get 5+ persons in the room which is a fire hazard. Perhaps you would be more comfortable with a Hotel that charges for every possible amenity that they offer. We just find it easier & more affordable to our Guests to include it one lump sum.

What’s in a name?

Posted Feb 22, 2018
Hotel? Not really. Motel? Nope. Resort? No. This is a hard one, the web site shows a happy young couple in stylish paradise. The rooms and public areas do have a contemporary style with some lovely touches but it’s still struggling to recover from Irma. The restaurant is closed, the do pizza on several nights and the tennis courts are currently a car/boat park. I’d love to come back once it’s back to full steam and can deliver on paradise.

Good morning Trent & Thanks for your notes. As a community, Marathon is still coming back as many of it's residents have left the county due to a shortage of affordable living. Getting reliable staff was a problem before the storm, so you can only imagine what it is now. As for an update on the Resort itself, our Suites did well during the storm & have been open for months now, we do have the Restaurant open for Continental Breakfast each morning. We are doing the Pizzas 5 nights per week, which were a huge hit prior to the storm. Pool bar is open 6 days a week. We also have Beach Bicycles, great Tennis courts across the street at the Club, 9 holes of Golf there too. We also have Fishing charters, snorkeling trips & Sunsets cruises right from our Marina. We are adding a Fitness Center, an Infrared Sauna and a Beach Buggy to take Guests to/from Sombrero Beach to which we will have packages to include Umbrella, chairs & a Cooler! We hope to see you back again soon to experience all that is new at Skipjack Resort Suites!

Cons: The room was lovely but the floors which are very nice tile were very dirty!! Ugh
We booked The Skipjack at the last minute for a brief one night stay. close to a beach and good restaurants. The room was lovely but could have been cleaner.

Great rooms, but staff is AWFUL

Posted Feb 5, 2018
Great rooms, but staff is AWFUL! 1)Lets start with the tiki bar. Full of 80 years olds, including the band. The bartender (also appeared to be over 70) served the bar twice before I waved my arms, while standing at the bar for assistance. She also served two come and go couples 2 seats over and NEVER ONCE acknowledged my existence. Additionally, she was SUPER slow at a pretty full bar. 2) Upon check out, there were two front desk women. One we dealt with at check-in and check-out earlier this morning. She was a sweetheart and TRULY helpful. I asked if there was any way to print a few documents. The second woman was so HATEFUL and saying HATEFUL is an understatement. When I asked her name, she refused to give it. I assured her I would post this review. Additionally, when I told her I would just get a photo of her, she ran to the back and shut the door. As I turned to leave, she came out mouthing again. Get a life and a job where you do not interact with the public! 3) The property still needs lots of work outside thanks to Irma. The rooms are large and spacious. They are decorated very cute, but small detail should be paid to moldy caulking in the bathrooms, etc.

We thought very hard about how to respond to this type of "Review" as it is a first of it's kind. 1) Your age discriminating comments are very distasteful & offensive. A person in their 70's or 80's cannot play music or serve as a Bartender? Hopefully your Parents or Grandparents are not reading your comments. If your biggest problem is the speed of your getting a cocktail, you should consider yourself blessed. Many ppl down here of ALL ages are dealing with the aftermath of losing their homes & worse. 2) Both Agents at the Desk were trying to be accommodating in printing some of your documents. How does the Agent asking the quantity of copies become “Hateful” & does this give you right to raise your voice to her & use profanity while your young child is standing right there? Also, it may be illegal to take someone's photo without their consent. 3) We have been working very hard to get the property in shape for our customers since the Category 4 Hurricane landed here several months back. Not everything is a quick fix but with a lot of determination & “elbow grease” we have progressed well vs. some of our other competitors that will be open later in 2018. In the end, the guests reading your “Review” and your comments & will make their own judgements based upon the overwhelming positive 5 star Reviews that we normally get from our Customers.
