Large room close to all museums &TUW

Posted Aug 16, 2017
Surprisingly large room, high ceiling probably because of the renovated ancient building. Extremely nice staff. Btw TUW buildings as well as museums. 3-side glazing elevator common in Vienna but definitely not common in hotels of this scale. Got a great discount in booking. Only minor issue is no vent in bath although a/c can compensate that.

A really good hotel

Posted Aug 9, 2017
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, very nice clean rooms, excellent position for shopping and dining out, quiet and very comfortable, excellent breakfast buf
Cons: I do not think the hotel could be improved because room rate is very good I also feel very safe and secure in this hotel
Location: Across the road from the hotel is the famous Seccession building with art exhibition, the main market o Vienna with small shops and restaurants.
This is my third stay at this hotel, staff are very friendly and helpful and all speak good English, The hotel is very clean , really good rooms and not noisy, excellent buffet. For the price it is the best hotel I have stayed in. Near the markets and withing walking distance of the main tourist attractions, also tube and trams. Plenty of reasonable restaurants near bye and good shopping. I am a retired Hospitality lecturer so can speak from knowledge, this is really a very nice hotel to stay in.

We stayed 3 nights. The location was close to city center and convenient for sightseeing of Vienna. The room was clean but not very large. In the bathroom, the space of shower was small and taking shower was not comfortable. There was a fridge in the room.

This is the area you want to be in

Just what you expect from Mercure- no more, no less. However, where this Mercure scores highly is location. 100 metres or so to the wonderful , jumping Naschmarkt which has every eatery and bar you could wish for from morning 'til night ( and all the main sights in easy walking distance).

Very nice neighborhood; mediocre breakfast buffet. Clean and quiet room but old-fashioned design.

The sidewalk would have been preferable.

Posted May 5, 2017
Pros: Its location was very convenient, but I found the trouble that I had sleeping made me less able to take advantage of that
Cons: Being where it is the bathroom should have blinds. Guests should be able to heat or cool the room. The bed should be better than a homeless shelter's.
Location: Two blocks north is Cafe Museum, which I heartily recommend. And the Karlsplatz and Karlskirche nearby is also very beautiful. Vienna itself is lovely
The bed in my room was a twin with a hard mattress. While the mattress had a cover, there was no bottom sheet, no top sheet, and no bedspread. There was only a thin cover-less duvet and a thin blanket that I could not pull it up too far over my shoulders or chest without leaving my feet exposed. The air conditioning did not work. Per the front desk, this is not because it is broken but because it’s hotel policy to not have it turned on in April. Nonetheless, sometimes the room became hot, leaving me the only way to regulate the room’s temperature opening the window. This presented a problem because the window of my room faced directly into a glass-enclosed third floor elevator landing and hallway. So opening the window meant keeping the drapes drawn to keep my privacy, which in turn kept the room warm. Also, my bathroom had a large window extending from my knee to the ceiling. It also faced onto the landing and hallway. The glass was frosted, providing very limited privacy. There were no drapes, curtains, or blinds in the bathroom. With the window closed, I could see people walking to the elevator. So they could see me. Several times during my stay here I was awakened by the hotel staff coming in to clean, the first time unannounced. While there is a doorhanger to request cleaning, there is none one that says do not disturb. This is the first hotel I have ever stayed at my entire life in which that is the case. In no way can I recommend this hotel.

Great hotel!! Location is terrific. The staff were so helpful - going out of their way to help me with things like finding a route to go running one morning, and arranging transportation for me. The rooms are clean. I would definitely stay there again!!

Cultural visit to Vienna

Posted Mar 13, 2017 on Hotels
We stayed in 2 rooms. The first one was small, with unbearable heat and no ventilation. The second was somewhat larger, and the open window in the hallway provided adequate air supply and ventilation.
