Small, Clean, Convenient

Posted Dec 2, 2016
Pros: Friendly staff, clean, quiet, easy parking, easy to find.
Cons: I suppose they could make some upgrades, but it's not exactly a bustling city or economic hub. It's fine for short stays.
Location: Warm weather activities in the area include hiking, horse riding, fishing, kayaking. Fall/Winter include hunting, snowmobiling, hiking.
Marienville is a small town off the beaten path so I was delighted to know this motel even exists. I had one of the small rooms, 1 queen bed, non-smoking. I noticed (before I booked) that some people had complaints about smell, cleanliness, etc. Well, my room was perfectly clean and smelled fine. The bathroom was clean. The bedding and towels were clean. (Maybe a little worn.) Sure the room was small, but heck the place used to be a Microtel. I was there during deer season, and it rained for 3 days straight. The staff worked really hard to keep the lobby clean despite all of the mud and leaves tracked in by hunters BTW, they do accept pets. I didn't see (or smell) any while I was there. There is a washer/dryer for guest use but bring your own laundry soap. Continental breakfast is included. Apparently some folks didn't get the memo that continental breakfast is cereal, pastries, bagels, fruit, juice etc. No eggs, bacon, hot foods. There was no microwave or coffee maker in my room (there might be in others) but there's a microwave in the lobby breakfast area, as well as hot coffee and hot water for tea 24/7.

Smoking room had no ash trays, no blow dryer. But it did have lots of cigarette burns throughout the room. When we asked where these items were we were told they had been stolen and never replaced. Carpeted floors were covered in lint and hallways with grass from peoples shoes.

I was very dissatisfied. Old and very dirty. Found slugs in the room when I woke up. In sum, it was a nightmare.

Pros: It was close to where I needed to be.
Cons: See above comments.
Location: You are close to the Allegheny National Forest and Cook's Forest so there are many activities there.
Carpet was worn, bedspread is dark & flowered. Two pillows were ok but a third was terrible, lumpy. Hair dryer didn't work. Found a hair in the bathtub. Floor in bathroom looked dirty around the edges. TV was old analog. Breakfast was a big disappointment. A couple bagels, a couple danish cut up, apples and bananas and dry cereal. One side of toaster didn't work. Walls had dirty marks on them. Ceiling in dining area had cracks and was leaking. Overall very disappointing.
