Disappointing but somehow expected...Posted Mar 21, 2013
This hotel was the less interesting from the four hotels we had booked on the island. We had booked the cheapest standard (ocean cottage). And we were glad not to have booked a more expensive one since extra charges were withdrawn from our account (on the top of the cost given by expedia) (+ 18,8%) that we never got explained or detailled for our records (instead we had a series of emails with conflicting informations). The people were very polite. The reason however for the 1 for comfort is mainly due to the constant noise of a waterpump that we had (for delivering pressure to the apartments ? no idea) The 2 for the maintenance is due to the fact that the water of the shower was running along the wall instead of out of the head of the shower and that we had to keep 2 out of the 3 shutters of the kitchen closed as they would have otherwise fallen off (undock from the wall). The main restaurant of the hotel (doolittle) was overpriced; and a 2$US return/p by boat iwas the only way out of the hotel... (we recommend Mama Sheila back on the main road of the island; much cheaper and way more authentic.) We did not feel like swimming (no real place to do it anyway) since the bay seemed to welcome mostly boats and only very rare swimmers. We were glad to stay only two nights; enough time to take advantage of some proposed nautical activities.

A lovely peaceful hideaway in a beautiful island.Posted Mar 13, 2013
Pros: location and friendly staff
Cons: very steep walk to get to unit although there is a cable car
Location: excellent. You get there by ferry. There are about six restaurants around the bay you can go to. The one attached ( Doolittles) was absolutely fine.
The Ocean Cottages are four units separate to the other units which are all detached and overlook the main part of Marigot Bay. We were in No 2 which is a ground floor unit in the block of four. The two upstairs units are well worth the extra, although we were very happy with our unit for the price. The four units have their own pool and overlook the ocean rather than the bay. We had stayed for the week previously in unit 9 in the main complex on a timeshare exchange. Marigot bay is a great destination.
