I would recommend this resort to absolutely everyone, it's gorgeous! Beach is amazing! Incredible staff. Great food! We had a fantastic stay and definitely will be back soon

Under construction with no discount!

Paid more this year then ever, and half of the resort is closed. Was not made aware prior to booking. Shame on Expedia and Catalonia!

Honeymoon paradise

We just got back from staying here on out honeymoon. The place was everything I could have dreamed of. The staff went out of their way for us and they were always warm and friendly. We did not encounter much seaweed. The different restaurants were yummy. We enjoyed the buffet the most. Huge selection. The new pool is gorgeous! This place is the best!

Third trip to Catalonia Privileged Maroma

Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing - it's great!
Location: It is located in the Riviera Maya - Playa Maroma which is centrally located between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen.
This was our 3rd trip to this particular resort over the past year. We continue to go back because of all the places we have traveled over the past 20 years they have the best resort, best beach, best food, etc.

Nice hotel and good location but

Pros: the location is beautiful
Cons: The restaurants need big improvement.
Location: The location is beautiful. Surrounded by forest and a lot of animals and birds..love it
Nice hotel w/good location but currently under construction (no info when I booked). I used the spa and for special treatment they ask me for additional $10 which I paid to find at checkout that I have outstanding bill of $10 for a spa ??? The restaurants offer very poor menu..only buffet is ok. I am not planning to come back to this place.

Nice Hotel but we got really sick

This was the second time we went to this resort. The reallity is that the first time my family and I (mysel, my wife, my son (at that time 8 months old), and my daughter ( she was 3 yo) ) went there we had a good time. That first time we were upgraded to privilege once we were Expedia gold. That gave us access to a room closer to the beach and access to La Terraza Restaurant. At that time the food and service were excellent. However, this last time, things did not go well. We actually payed privilege due to the good experience we had before. When we got there we were told that because we were Expedia gold, we were going to get an upgrade. We were supposed to get a room even closer to the beach and also some great discounts on a lobster dinner, spa, and in their stores ( a total scam).The room upgrade was a total failure.First we got a room in a second floor.There are not elevators and with two little kids going up and down the stairs this wasn't going to work. We asked for another room on a first floor and we got it. The problem was that the bathroom in the room had a showers that didn't have a division between the shower and the rest of the bathroom so every time we showered the bathroom and even part of the room flooded. I was mapping the floor morning and afternoon. My son fell on the floor cause it was wet. The worst of all, two days before leaving we got food poisoning. Vomiting, diarrhea, and stomachache the entire night. We informed at checkout but nothing was done.

Good resort but don't upgrade to privileged

The resort is nice but for the cost of the upgrade it is not worth it, u get to eat breakfast and lunch on a balcony over looking the water, but the food is better on the buffet or food carts, it says u get a private beach but it's just sectioned off from the rest of the beach, your room is closer to the beach but further from the lobby and food so you pick what's more important, we did the time share tour it takes about 90 minutes just to see what $45000 gets you for 10 years, we told them no and it was over no pressure, overall we liked the resort and would recommend it to anyone, just don't waste the money on the privileged status

It was okay overall, not that impressed comparing my stay at a Punta Cana resort. REPELENT is a must!!!!
