Good not great

Posted Apr 28, 2017
Getting served coffee at breakfast and drinks with lunch was a constant problem because staff, although present, seemed less than service minded. The room had a kettle and instant coffee and tea but no milk...milk could be ordered through room service for approx 4 Euro even though we were all inclusive.

great 4 day break

Posted Apr 22, 2017
Pros: hotel was very comfortable and relaxed. facilities were all good, room was great.
Cons: staff in the restaurants could be more attentive and their service could be improved.
Location: loads to do in Marrakech - visiting souks, palace, gardens and so on to activities, trips and hikes out of town
Really enjoyed our family trip to Marrakech (family with 4 kids). The combination of the hotel and pool with some daily sightseeing activities was great. Hotel was great and only a short taxi ride from the town.

Great Hotel, staff a little Faulty Towers

Posted Apr 21, 2017
Pros: Location, rooms, big pool, sun beds and weather. 10 minutes to the Souk in a taxi.
Cons: Staff training on catering, serving customers and getting food orders out in a timely fashion. Casablanca lager include in All Inclusive!
Location: 10 minutes from the centre and the souks. Comptoir Darna is a great restaurant, belly dancers come out about 10.30pm and it turns into a club at 12am.
We spent 4 days at the Kenzi, the hotel is lovely, beautifully layed out and an ideal location out side the Medina to chill by the pool in 25- 32 degrees heat in mid-April. The rooms were great in terms of size, layout, comfort, en suite etc...although the balcony doors didn't lock and we had a few ants for company. I'd recommend going All Inclusive because in the heat you'll want drinks, snacks and without any nearby convenience or stores you'll easily spend the 550 dirhams a day it is for All inclusive. If you're out day-tripping and eating in town, breakfast only is perfect. Food was good, although the Italian didn't have the starters available either nights we ate their. The only minor criticism is the staff were a bit Faulty Towers, especially at the pool bar. You would think that 8 members of staff could manage 20, tables and 80 customers wanting lunch in the same 2 hour period easily. We waited over an hour for food (simple paninis, burger, salad(!)) - there just seemed no organisation and leadership. Breakfast and dinner were similar, and it would be something really easy to fix! Staff were polite, some eager to please in reception but let down by their colleagues by the pool. We did a couple of trips into the Souk. All very friendly. The hotel will arrange a taxi there, based on April 2017 prices, you shouldn't pay more than 150 dirhams to get into the Square, and no more than 100 dirhams to return by taxi. The hotel does offer a complimentary bus as well.

Great hotel for families

Posted Apr 19, 2017
Pros: The hotel is very well located and it is easy to get to the attractions and tourist sites. The staff were incredibly courteous and helpful.
Location: The hotel is opposite Agdal gardens, which were unfortunately closed during our stay. We were 10 minutes drive from Medina, the Souks and old town.
We had a wonderful stay at the Kenzi Menara. The hotel and its staff were very forthcoming, knowing that we were traveling with two small children. The rooms were spacious and tidy, everything was easily accessible. The hotel itself had a rather quirky internal architecture. The breakfast buffet was great, a little bit for everyone. On 2 occasions we dined in each of the two on-site restaurants and it was exceptionally great food. I would argue that the tajine we had in the Moroccan restaurant was actually the best we had during our stay. We tried the buffet once for lunch and once for dinner and were very pleased with what was on offer. The staff and even the head chef were exceptionally warm and friendly, everyone was happy to engage with the kids and make our stay a rather pleasant experience. The kids were never left bored as the hotel provides kids activities as well as a friendly pool area. The staff at the pool were very accommodating and found us a parasol and loungers when we arrived to a packed pool area. If you are traveling with kids, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Good out of town location

Posted Apr 18, 2017
Pros: The hotel was clean and well laid out, lovely pool area Recommend a top floor pool facing room for quietness Large rooms Cakes - breakfast
Cons: The food and service could be greatly improved, with supply of basis items, plates, towels, glasses in rooms.
Location: The hotel is located a short taxi ride from the main square in Marrakesh town.
The hotel was clean and rooms spacious and the staff were friendly. The pool and gardens were very well maintained. The hotel was full when we visited in the run up to Easter and it was evident that the hotel lacked supplies of basic items and it appeared they were under staffed. Bath towels were taken from rooms early in the morning and not replaced until late afternoon. There were not enough plates and glasses for breakfast and the service for drinks was very slow. Thankfully we decided to only have breakfast at the hotel prior to booking the trip. There was a good choice but the food unfortunately did not taste as good as it looked - it was very average. Food at the pool side cafe was slow, taking up to an hour for food to be served from ordering and on most occasions the food was poor. There are lots of lovely eating places in Marrakesh. We found a good reliable and knowledgeable taxi driver, who we used as our driver for most of our stay, he took us to some beautiful hidden Moroccan restaurants and showed us parts of Marrakesh we would not have found on our own. Overall, this could be a good hotel, if a few basics were sorted out. This is not currently a 5* experience.

All (non)inclusive

Posted Apr 9, 2017
The All-inclusive package booked on Expedia turned out to be a "breakfast-only" deal on arrival. After calling Expedia to clarify the situation, I was told to pay an extra £1,000 for the all-inclusive package as a top up, although Expedia admitted I had booked a full all-inclusive deal. I am awaiting a refund from Expedia for the top-up I had to pay at the hotel. Otherwise, the hotel itself is fairly basic (NOT 5 stars), The staff don't like being disturbed if you have a problem/request; the main pool is freezing cold (only the mini pool for kids is heated to 20 degrees). What you see on the buffet in the evening will be recycled the next day for lunch; the breakfast buffet is laughable and the pool "restaurant" has only 5 main courses. The "all Inclusive" deal is effectively an "All Eclusive" deal: although I asked what the deal included and was told "All drinks at the main bar & pool bar are included", I couldn't have a simple Bacardi & Coke or even a Nespresso! What you see at the bars is what you can't get, unless you pay over and above! The staff make you feel like a second-class guest as soon as they see your "All-in" bracelet. You can have some sort of jungle gin, Aldi-type rum and sock-juice coffe with your deal, that's it! I had to complain several times and meet the food & beverage director for half an hour to get a "special deal" after coughing up £1K for 2 adults and 2 kids just for some decent drinks! Kenzi Menara is a hotel for locals, not a resort for families.

Nice hotel far from downtown/Medina

Posted Apr 8, 2017
The hote is quite nice and the grounds are beautiful. Room is very good. Check in is slow. You need to take a taxi or the shuttle bus (runs max every one hour and doesn't run late). Would have been great if hote was not so far away from the Medina or if shuttle buses ran more frequently and later into the evening

Good hotel but avoid a room with connecting door

Posted Mar 19, 2017
My Fiancée and I enjoyed our trip. The pool area and grounds are lovey. We particularly enjoyed long breakfasts sitting outside in the sun and shade. The little sparrows are most entertaining. The restaurants are huge and have very little character - very bright lights and very high ceilings the food is good but not cheap. The room service is great however and a romantic meal on the balcony is much better! We changed rooms 3 times as the connecting doors are not effective at blocking sound between rooms - even normal chatting is quite easy to hear without trying. We loved the last room - very quiet and lovely. The gym is great, spa is good enough and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The taxi drivers will rip you off - from a cheaper hotel 3 hotels down the taxi drivers will open negotiations to go anywhere about 50% lower than here - it's naughty! Overall, had a good time - but get a room with no connecting door.
