I personally feel that Expedia over rated the entire facility. This is not a ninty something rating. The facility is very old and some units are in need of renovation. Expedia should spend more time reviewing their suggested rentals in order to give a fair evaluation.

A great location, next to Whalers Village and on the beach. Apartments, owned by private owners and managed by management companies, vary in location, views, and in size and furniture. And so you need to be careful with apartment selection.

The couch was pretty dated and not comfortable and the chair and coffee table were in pretty poor condition…otherwise a really decent place for the money and staff were great with very good communication

We had an excellent time at the Whaler. I don't think we really understood it was privately owned when we booked it versus a regular hotel. But our room was very nice and all of the staff were friendly. We loved being right on the beach. Would not hesitate to stay there again

The koi pond was fantastic. Grounds were meticulous. Having it be whale watching season it was fun to sit on the balcony and watch them.

Whaler Stay
At arrival the staff in the lobby were expecting me and were very nice. I was very happy with my room at the Whaler. It was on the twelfth floor overlooking Whaler village a points south. The room was clean, well appointed and professionally decorated. I requested furniture for the lanai to the Aston service team and the response exceeded my expectations. Well qqdone.

They put us in a room right next door to a room that had construction going on. Sounded like a jackhammer; very loud and disturbing. The front desk personnel could do nothing about it. It seems that the Aston management is really messed up.

Clean beach front property, friendly staffs, very convenient location right next to shops and restaurants. We love to walk along Kaanapali beach. Check out restaurants at Sheraton, Westin , Hyatt. Snorkeling is about 5 minutes walk on the beach and has nice shade.

Really enjoyed our time at The Whaler. Amazing views from our room every morning. We really didn’t want to leave. The Beach, shopping and restaurants are right out the front door of the property. My son enjoyed walking down to Black Rock as well. Will be back!

Our stay at the Whaler was WONDERFUL! The room was clean and well stocked, we found the staff to be friendly and efficient and the VIEW from our balcony was breathtaking!

We liked that there was lots of options nearby as far as stores and places to eat. What we didn’t like is that we had our card on the door for our room to get cleaned for three days until it happened. It wasn’t that our room was dirty by any means but we were out of fresh towels. Could we have asked the front desk for some yes. To me that shouldn’t have to be asked if our sign or card was on the door asking for our room to be cleaned for that duration of time. The outside view is a 10/10 but inside the room was a 5/10 for the price. Family friendly but for the price and what we thought we were getting wasn’t quite what we got.

Two room stay
Our first room had an issue with the hot/cold water in our bathroom and the bed was a bit wonky. We ended up changing rooms and the Hotel was VERY accommodating. Our second room was very nice and we enjoyed the rest of our stay. The Hotel did everything to make our stay comfortable and a good experience. The Hotel is in a good location to the beach and shops.

Great Maui Studio.
Beautiful resort right on the beach. We had an upgraded studio which was updated, spacious and a great balcony with ocean views. This is a well maintained property, with wonderful friendly staff. Right next to the Whaler shops and restaurants. We will stay there again.

Nice in general! Great location and quiet. Confortable and well equipped studio! Pool needs to be bigger and prettier!!!!! The place deserves a much prettier pool!!! I hope they improve on that!!!

Older property in great condition. Fantastic location on the beach next to Black Rock with beautiful snorkeling spots. Small pool, but who needs a pool when the ocean is right there? Lots of lounge chairs for guests to use on the beach or the lawn in front of the beach. Easy to walk to everything on the beach front walkway. Friendly staff at check in, easy parking.

Definitely Recommend
This place was fantastic. It's not a resort property and there are no on-site restaurants or anything but there is plenty nearby and it has a full kitchen. We actually liked the fact that it's more apartment living than hotel. Access to the beach is great, the room was very very nice and comfortable. We would absolutely stay here again and hope to before too long.
