Hotel on the beach and amenities.

Posted Mar 18, 2017
Pros: The staff and beach. Also close to restaurants etc.
Cons: Upgrades and replace carpeting with tile. Restaurant should open earlier for guests going on excursions.
Location: Very convenient to lots of shopping and restaurants.
Hotel staff were great and hotel convenient. Hotel could be even greater with some upgrades. Room and other areas smelled moldy due to carpeting. Beautiful view from lanai. Grounds were very clean and well kept.

Great stay

Posted Mar 14, 2017
Pros: The staff is great.
Cons: I wouldn't change a thing.
Location: Close to Lahaina and whale watching during whale season.
This is the third time we stayed at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel. We will stay there again our next visit to Maui. The location is perfect for the activities we like, and although the hotel is old, it is well maintained. Most importantly, when you are staying at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel you are family to the staff. I love walking up to the desk and the staff saying, "Welcome Home!".

Hotel to customer- should have done more research

Posted Mar 12, 2017
Pros: location was nice
Cons: service, the hotel's relationship with expedia, being up front about not having elevators before a family shows up.
Location: Basically in a hotel strip mall on the west coast of Maui. Great beach, but hard to walk anywhere unless dining at other hotels.
All seemed fine until check-in when the staff told us we were on the 3rd floor with no elevator. I had special requested a crib, but they still put the family with a stroller on the 3rd floor. When I complained, they said, "well, you booked through expedia, you should have done more research on the hotels in the area". It was my fault that they didn't have an elevator, but they'd be happy to put us in a smoking building (of all the callus things to offer a family with an infant). They knew of the problem, which is why they volunteered at check in that they didn't have an elevator. Won't be staying there again, probably not booking through expedia in Hawaii again. Resort looked like it was from the late 60s, many of the patrons were of that generation as well.

Nice location, close to beach

Posted Mar 7, 2017
We booked ocean view room which had very nice view of sunset. Every day evening 6 to 9 they have live stage performance which you can enjoy having dinner at restaurant. There are many activities for kids. The food is pretty good.

Good Value for Ka'anapali

Posted Mar 7, 2017
Pros: Value and location
Cons: This hotel is resisting renovations. But if that happens it will no longer be value priced for the area (though not cheap by any means)
Location: You can walk and run on the 2 mile walkway on the beach. You area 5 minute walk from Whalers village and within 15 minutes of every single hote
This is the worst hotel on the Ka'napali Hotel stretch, but you are paying half the price of the other hotels. If you must be at Ka'anapali and want to save money, this is your hotel, otherwise read on. The best way to describe this hotel is "dated". They have done a great job maintaining the hotel for the last 30 years but have not changed much. Ka'anapali is a high end resort area with a nice beach and a nice walkway along the beach. Most hotels look the same, except this one. Do not expect at this hotel to have a pool area with a water feature (waterfall, rokcks etc...), no gym, no room service, no high end patio furniture, and no large high ceiling lobby with a nice breeze. The rooms are very clean but use corian and ceramic tiles instead of stone, and use bed spreads instead of the white sheet trend of updated hotels. My room was partial view, which any other hotel on the strip would market as ocean front except for those huge trees blocking the view - the upscale resorts cut down most large trees between the rooms and the ocean to give a better view. To justify the "datedness" this hotel play up the Hawai'iness, which means they have lei making, ukelele lessons (done in 30 minutes) and loud entertainment between 6 and 9 pm. The positive of this is that many of the staff are local and if you spend time talking to them and you can get to know a lot about Hawai'i. You don't get a flower lei at check in like other hotels, but they do give you Kikui nut leis before you leave

Good Maui Bargain

Posted Mar 5, 2017
While far from being the newest hotel or having the best amenities, Ka'anapali Beach Hotel boasts a great location on the beach, clean , comfortable rooms(if a bit outdated) and a warm and friendly staff. The bar and restaurant are good, and there is free and fun music every night from 6 till 9. You get the Maui experience at a more affordable price --it is Hawaii so nothing is cheap.

Comfortable and affordable in Maui

Posted Mar 4, 2017
No elevator in the area we stayed at but it wasn't much of an issue for me. They shut off the power for 2 hours which I wasn't made aware of at check in which made for a minor inconvenience. Overall the room was clean and served its purpose. Staff were friendly though not overly helpful. Affordable place to stay in a nice, touristy part of Maui.

Kaanapali Beach Hotel needs updating.

Posted Mar 3, 2017
Pros: It's location.
Cons: See experience above.
Location: Close to Whalers Village shopping and restaurants. Nice beach and shaded grassy area for sunbathing, relaxing and snorkeling at Black Rock.
There were inequitable amenities provided to guests which were also less than what we received during our first stay 11 years ago. Kaanapali Beach Hotel is in serious need of overall updating. On the day we arrived neither of the 2 elevators that serviced the wing we stayed in were operating requiring us to walk up 3 flights of stairs with our luggage and arthritic knees. For the entire week we were there only 1 of the 2 elevators was available for use and on the 6th day of our stay the electricity for the entire hotel was shutdown for over 2 hours. This again required us to again use the stairs. With arthritic knees this was difficult for my wife. In addition, my mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable making it difficult to sleep throughout the night. Most of the entertainment was good but one of the bands that played was absolutely horrible. Also, on the night of the luau there was no entertainment available for those of us that chose not to participate because we had previously attended multiple luau's. Most of the service staff was very pleasant and accommodating. However, the attitude of guest services was that they were being inconvenienced by helping guests. For the daily rate we paid there are competitors that have nicer facilities with equal amenities.

This was our 8th visit to KBH

Posted Mar 3, 2017
As usual, our visit was perfect. Checking on was swift and easy, the valets were their usual attentive and friendly, the room (385) was clean and attractive. I don't think anything could have been better. We have recommended KBH many times and will continue in the future.
