Good Value for Ka'anapali

This is the worst hotel on the Ka'napali Hotel stretch, but you are paying half the price of the other hotels. If you must be at Ka'anapali and want to save money, this is your hotel, otherwise read on. The best way to describe this hotel is "dated". They have done a great job maintaining the hotel for the last 30 years but have not changed much. Ka'anapali is a high end resort area with a nice beach and a nice walkway along the beach. Most hotels look the same, except this one. Do not expect at this hotel to have a pool area with a water feature (waterfall, rokcks etc...), no gym, no room service, no high end patio furniture, and no large high ceiling lobby with a nice breeze. The rooms are very clean but use corian and ceramic tiles instead of stone, and use bed spreads instead of the white sheet trend of updated hotels. My room was partial view, which any other hotel on the strip would market as ocean front except for those huge trees blocking the view - the upscale resorts cut down most large trees between the rooms and the ocean to give a better view. To justify the "datedness" this hotel play up the Hawai'iness, which means they have lei making, ukelele lessons (done in 30 minutes) and loud entertainment between 6 and 9 pm. The positive of this is that many of the staff are local and if you spend time talking to them and you can get to know a lot about Hawai'i. You don't get a flower lei at check in like other hotels, but they do give you Kikui nut leis before you leave
