Beautiful property with some issues
Posted Oct 18, 2016
Beautiful setting of spacious villas in beautiful gardens but not run professionally enough to create a luxury experience. Nice rooms, large well-appointed bathrooms, once patio area, but individual pools no heated at all and not getting any sun, so unusable most of the time. Overall infrastructure is great - good gym, nice interior, lovely gardens. But the beach isn't great - badly maintained, absolutely covered in leaves and algae all the time; you can't swim in the sea off their beach as it's very shallow (about 5 inches deep) and the boat trip for swimming goes out only once a day at 12pm! The biggest let down is the quality of food which is poor and unhealthy, with patchy service. Terrible breakfast, with not a single healthy option available - everything comes floating in oil, fruit is not ripe, sometimes orders don't arrive at all. Nothing healthy on the menu for lunch either! The spa is not professionally run - whilst the staff are very friendly and keen, they don't have sufficient training to carry out the services they offer, all the attempts were poor. The redeeming feature of the place is it's lovely, helpful and very friendly stuff. It's a stunning property but unfortunately not run to the standards one would expect for a luxury property.

Thank you for sharing your opinion of your stay at our resort.
Our Chefs are willingly available to prepare dishes to suit the taste of our in-house guests. We regret that you could not take advantage of this possibility. We are sorry that the service during certain meal periods made you feel let down, but your constructive comments have been shared with the team for improvement.
Our Spa team is continuously trained to deliver the highest level of treatments both in relaxing and Ayurvedic areas and we regret that it did not meet your expectations.
We pride in the huge trees which provide shady areas all along the 750-metre beach stretch, quite appreciated by our guests. Whilst our dedicated team of gardeners strives to keep the beach and sand in the best possible state, trees constantly lose their leaves during this period of the year, prior to our summer.
As you may be aware, all the beaches around the island of Mauritius are public and the laws of the country dictate actions that individual hotels can take with regards to cleaning of the lagoon so as not to disturb the ecological balance.
Boat trips organised for snorkelling, glass bottom outings, dolphin watching/swimming, are activities available at different times of the day, depending on the tides. The depth of the water in our swimming zones may reach over 1.5 metres at high tides.
Flic en Flac was once small fishing village and has grown into a touristic town with shops and local restaurants. Being on the West coast of Mauritius, it boasts a stunning sunset greatly appreciated by all.
We have also taken good note of your appreciation of our villas and gardens.
We look forward to another opportunity for a personalised service during your next stay.
