We have always prided ourselves on excellent service and wish to apologize for the slow service you experienced Even though the hotel was running at very high occupancy during your stay, there should be no excuse for a breakdown in service and I will ensure that appropriate training and supervision are implemented with our waiting staff and at the same time we will reinforce the service team with additional staff and supervision to return the standards back to normal in the shortest delay possible. Please accept my apologies for this shortcoming. Once again thank you for your feedback and look forward to welcoming you soon to our sweet Colonial Resort. Fabulous wedding venue.

Posted Nov 27, 2016 on Hotels
Went for a wedding which was pretty spectacular. The buffet breakfast & dinner were excellent for choice and quality. Meals ordered for lunches were pretty ordinary. Some staff were great and others were a bit dodgy eg. Bringing 'free' drinks then charging cigarettes to the account as their tip. The free watercraft were great fun. The pool was great for laps but could be cleaner. I hate the practice of people claiming sunchairs with a towel at 6am for the whole day but only sitting there for a few hours the whole time. They should collect towels left for more than an hour so everyone gets a chance to enjoy.

A piece of paradise but a few glitches

Posted Oct 17, 2016
Pros: Our room was nice, the beach is a great place to swim and relax and there are two nice pools and a bunch of other facilities. The food is good.
Cons: We had major problems with our room key working and our room phone never worked. Staff didn't seem to care so much. Drink prices are also exorbitant.
Location: The resort is right on the beach a little out of town. It's an easy drive to anywhere on the island and there's loads to do.
We loved our time at Sugar Beach. We picked this resort because our friends were getting married there and had a lovely time. As the name suggests, it's right on the beach in Flic-en-Flac, which is a lovely laid back town on the western side of Mauritius. It's a great place to lie back and relax, swimming and reading, but there are also plenty of activities available, from basics such as snorkelling off the beach up to organised activities such as fishing and scuba diving. There were a few annoyances though that took a little of the sheen off our stay, particularly given how simply they could have been avoided or resolved.

Guest’s feedbacks are very valuable for us to further improve and deliver a good level of service. Thus we thank you for bringing your resentments to our attention. As for your observations about alcoholic beverages prices, we are sorry that they were not up to your expectations. The costs of importing these beverages are extremely high and are highly taxed, therefore import duty on these items are subject to increases and hotels are compelled to pass it to the consumer. However, we assure you to consider your suggestions for future improvements. With regards to the room key please note that I will personally inform the Executive Housekeeping who will look into the matter Once again thank you for your feedback and look forward to welcoming you soon to our sweet Colonial Resort. Nice hotel, beautiful place to be

Posted Aug 29, 2016
Pros: Its a very beautiful hotel with lots to do/not to do - relax
Cons: The food needs to be improved. I didn't enjoy the breakfast as it was the same every single day. The Indian flavors can also improve.
I enjoyed my stay, the staff was very pleasant and so was the location

Hotel staff accommodated were brilliant. we travelled with our 1 year old daughter which was brave enough. the hotel staff made the stay even more pain free by assisting us where ever that could. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling with kids of any age. Our neighbours in the room next door had their 6 month old - they felt the same. It does get load though at night with the entertainment. If you have toddlers ask for room as far away from tides bar as possible. otherwise it was fantastic.

Beautiful hotel, superb location, great facilities

Posted Jun 7, 2016
Pros: Virtually everything
Cons: Waiter "etiquette", even if that makes me sound a bit poncy
Location: Swimming, swimming with dolphins, lots of free beach activities, great spa, lovely pools. There is no town within easy walking distance though
If you're looking for a lovely hotel in Mauritius in which you can relax, swim, sit by the pool or on the beach, and eat quite a lot - all in a luxurious surrounding - then this is the place for you. I've given five stars for everything because in reality the things which did niggle me were so insignificant that it would seem almost churlish to mention them. But for the sake of balance, I will. The standard rooms are four star, I would say, rather than five. It just looked a tiny bit on the tired side, which is surprising considering how new the hotel apparently is. The Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur, for instance, would be (and is) five star. This is not quite at that level of supreme luxury. Secondly, if you're having dinner, I personally find it off-putting for a waiter to clear away my wife's plate while I'm still eating. It interferes with our relaxed dining experience. I'm surprised nobody has told the waiters not to do this. Thirdly, we did see a cockroach and a mouse in the dining area. But in a way, that's almost to be expected: it's a massive open dining area. So I should stress that at no point did I think anything was dirty or unhygienic. Finally, 95% of the staff were absolutely lovely. One was a bit moody. So if the worst I have to complain about is one moody waiter in a week, then I'd better get over myself. The list of positives is endless. I'm out of word space now, so the question is, would I go back? In a heartbeat.

I am really sorry that you encountered several problems throughout your stay and bad service as well. We will definitely use your comments to re-enforce our standards. Also, I was sorry to read that the room did not come up to your expectations and wish to apologize for this. I have also taken note of your comments concerning rodents and pests and can assure you that I will bring this feedback to the attention of the company responsible for pest control. In general, in spite of our tropical location and environment we are able to adequately control this and apologize for the discomfort that this caused you during your stay. I am glad that you nevertheless had a good holiday with us and look forward to welcoming you again at Sugar Beach. Kind regards, Nicolas de Chalain General Manager

Excellent Location on the beach

Posted Jun 6, 2016
Pros: location, location,location
Cons: better sound proofing of rooms near Tides restaurant.
Location: Try local restaurants - we tried Zub Restaurant which was excellent indian food. We also tried other Chinese food which was ok.swimming with dolphins
fantastic resort - on the beach. Nice friendly staff, clean but dates décor of rooms. Pricy food compared to other options. Don't take rooms close to Tides restaurant as too noisy at night due to evening entertainment. Often awake till 2 am because of loud music. Very nice location - probably one of the best locations!
