Beautiful hotel, superb location, great facilities

If you're looking for a lovely hotel in Mauritius in which you can relax, swim, sit by the pool or on the beach, and eat quite a lot - all in a luxurious surrounding - then this is the place for you.
I've given five stars for everything because in reality the things which did niggle me were so insignificant that it would seem almost churlish to mention them. But for the sake of balance, I will.
The standard rooms are four star, I would say, rather than five. It just looked a tiny bit on the tired side, which is surprising considering how new the hotel apparently is. The Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur, for instance, would be (and is) five star. This is not quite at that level of supreme luxury.
Secondly, if you're having dinner, I personally find it off-putting for a waiter to clear away my wife's plate while I'm still eating. It interferes with our relaxed dining experience. I'm surprised nobody has told the waiters not to do this.
Thirdly, we did see a cockroach and a mouse in the dining area. But in a way, that's almost to be expected: it's a massive open dining area. So I should stress that at no point did I think anything was dirty or unhygienic.
Finally, 95% of the staff were absolutely lovely. One was a bit moody. So if the worst I have to complain about is one moody waiter in a week, then I'd better get over myself.
The list of positives is endless. I'm out of word space now, so the question is, would I go back? In a heartbeat.

I am really sorry that you encountered several problems throughout your stay and bad service as well. We will definitely use your comments to re-enforce our standards. Also, I was sorry to read that the room did not come up to your expectations and wish to apologize for this.
I have also taken note of your comments concerning rodents and pests and can assure you that I will bring this feedback to the attention of the company responsible for pest control. In general, in spite of our tropical location and environment we are able to adequately control this and apologize for the discomfort that this caused you during your stay.
I am glad that you nevertheless had a good holiday with us and look forward to welcoming you again at Sugar Beach.
