The property is beautifully situated on a beach, and what looks like a lovely golf course. However, we were charged twice the going rate, and when we asked for a refund or reconsideration of the rate at which we were booked, the answer was a no. The rooms are less than Three star, however, Expedia gave them a four star rating without having checked it. There is no spa or beauty salon or gym. There is only one restaurant which serves a fairly minimal menu. All the rooms need upgrading and attention, particularly the beds which were harder and very uncomfortable. we were promised free breakfast for the three days during our stay, However, that did not occur as the manager couldn't be found. There is no little store on the property either. This was definitely one of our worst hotel experiences. Oh, and did I mention the pool is unheated and cold and there are two large sized hot tubs. Definitely would not recommend this hotel if the rate is more than $200 a night. we were charged over $600 a night and expected services and a property that would be commensurate with the price.

You get what you pay for. The people there don’t really care that you’re there. The spa and gym havent been renovated since in 10 years or more? But some of the staff do try to be serviceable. If this resort got a facelift it would be one of the best in Mazatlán. Hopefully with the new hotel being built investment comes into Las Villas. Also the “all inclusive” was a bait and switch from the time that we booked to what we actually got. A limited menu and nothing was really explained.

This place was excellent if you would like to go to Mazatlan and relax beachside. The staff was excellent and super friendly. Alonso helped me out a vast amount . Will definitely be going back to play a round of golf.

We stood here because the reviews were good but service sucks also make to check the locks on slidding doors due that locks don’t even work we had to switch rooms even after they said that they were none available. My brother had the same issue and in a different room. They forgot to give us towels we had to go to reception to remind them.and no supervisor came to see the what the issue was to address it or even offer an apology.not even a complementary of some kind. Hotel has beautiful view nice but service stinks.

Would think twice before staying again
The good part about Estrella del Mar is it is right on the water and has amazing sunsets. The hotel itself needs a facelift, but it's close to the airport and clean. The cleaning staff were really friendly. A couple of cons . . . There was no coffee pot or way to make coffee in the room. You had to go to the restaurant to buy it. They had many people working in their restaurants over two days, but they were extremely inefficient and slow with their processes. When you had their attention they were nice and tried to be helpful, it just seemed like they forgot about you once they walked away. They seemed to be busy, but I'm not sure what they were doing, as other tables were getting the same experience. We also were traveling with our 3 1/2 lb. long-haired chihuahua. They not only took a daily pet fee about $25 USD per day, but made us pay a cash deposit ($1000 pesos). We did get our deposit back after they checked the room. We travel often with her, so we found it unusual to have both a daily fee and a cash deposit. We also asked for a taxi back to the airport. They use the Estrella del Mar vans and the driver was an Estrella employee. The driver was very nice and prompt, but they do charge a fee for the service (480 pesos). This is expensive, given that you pay that same amount for a taxi to go to Centro from the airport (triple the distance).

The place itself, and the grounds are very beautiful. The ocean front location is very ideal. The room itself was the problem. There was no hot water at all and when we asked for maintenance, they kept telling the front desk that we didn’t know how to use the knob. There was absolutely no hot water and that was a horrible experience.

My stay at Las Villas Hotel & Golf by Estrella del Mar was absolutely incredible! Despite missing VIP services, free meals, and coffee in the room, none of that overshadowed the amazing experience I had. From the moment I arrived, the staff greeted me with warmth and made me feel like a VIP guest. Their genuine kindness created a welcoming atmosphere. The hotel grounds were a slice of paradise, with lush greenery and a serene atmosphere that melted away all my worries. The rooms were heavenly—spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, providing a perfect sanctuary for relaxation. And the view! Oh my goodness, the view of the vast ocean was breathtaking. The amenities were top-notch, and the pool area became my favorite spot to unwind and soak up the sun. The on-site restaurant blew me away with its culinary delights, each dish a work of art bursting with flavors. Despite the missing amenities, the overall experience exceeded my expectations. Las Villas Hotel & Golf holds a special place in my heart, and I can't wait to return and create more incredible memories.

The property is very quiet, the staff is very friendly. This isn't your typical hotel, things here are quiet and not the party-like environment you see near downtown Mazatlan. Mazatlan is 45 minutes away from here.

While the resort was advertised as all-inclusive, we got there and it is not. It also said there are three onsite restaurants, which is true. However, the Beach Bar was only open for two of the eight days we were there. The third restaurant was a mile walk away and basically has an almost identical menu as the main hotel restaurant. We regularly waited for up to an hour before even receiving menus. When we wanted to take an excursion into town, the front desk personnel were only mildly helpful and said the "hotel shuttle" was only available Tuesdays and Fridays. When our shuttle came, it was a regular taxi... that we had to pay for. Overall, the hotel/resort was beautiful. The rooms were clean and well kept, the views were amazing. But lackluster service, lack of food and activity choices really soured the experience for us. I don't think we'll go back to Las Villas.

Gorgeous property and lovely people. I arrived very fatigued after a long drive so I missed the young attendant trying to steer me to the Mexican restaurant instead of the hotel restaurant. The Mexican restaurant is as far away from the hotel as possible while still on the property, go there anyway. That’s how bad the hotel restaurant is! I should not have paid for what I was served but didn’t have the fight in me.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Complete and absolute disappointment. The property lists amenities that they do not have. Ie, gym, salon, bikes, tennis courts, I could go on and on. When asked about it they shrug and say no we don’t have that. We had an active leak in one room and it was filthy. They moved us to another room at our request. That was equally as filthy. The dishwasher didn’t work and literally fell out of the space it sets in, the slider screen was tattered and torn. The kitchen window didn’t lock. The master shower head trickled, all of the dining room chair cushions are stained. The food in the two restaurants they do have is okay but pretty much the same thing. It’s miles from Mazatlan which they don’t do a good job of explaining. I called Expedia and tried to get moved to another resort but “there was nothing they could do”. We felt completely stranded. Estrella refused any kind of reimbursement or reduction of costs. I mean the whole thing was a total joke. I will NEVER book through EXPEDIA ever again and I will warn everyone I know about Estrella Del Mar and how they unashamedly market the place as something completely different than it is. I don’t normally right reviews, especially bad ones but this was a nightmare and neither Expedia nor Estrella Del Mar has done anything to make it right.
