"Worth the extra cost"
I stayed in numerous hotels in the Mazatlan area while working in Sinaloa. The rooms ranged from $50-$120 per night depending on the hotel. While Estrella Del Mar was the most expensive, it provided the best service and had the nicest facilities barn none. The room was beautiful and clean. The bathroom was very spacious and felt luxurious. The hotel is designed so that each room is quiet but still centrally located to other amenities (beach, pool, front desk, restaurants, etc.). The free services provided were very appreciated. In addition, the internet was much better than at the other hotels I stayed at in the Mazatlan area. The staff was very professional and kind. This hotel provides much more of a isolated resort feel, and should be booked by people purposefully trying to get away from city center of Mazatlan. It's a small drive to the city, but you will have a very different experience staying at Estrella del Mar than in the city. I would reccommend this hotel for families or couples who want the calm of a resort, the services of a top notch hotel, with occasional access to Mazatlan.

"Such a nice place to stay."
We really enjoyed our experience here. So close to stores, restaurants and safe. People were helping and friendly. We certainly would stay here again when in Mazatlán.

"Great spot, Beautiful Grounds Sweet Friendly Staff"
Very close to the beach. Beautiful Grounds , Palm Trees Everywhere. Open Air Restaurants. Courteous Employees, Service is Quite Slow, Don't be on a time frame, Mexico Time, But hey you are on vacation right? Highly Recommend this homey style setting and the all inclusive option. Sister Property Emerald Bay is gorgeous with incredible pools. Restaurants here are superb with impressive service. Both Properties have their quant qualities. Both are very different but very enjoyable in their own ways.

"Nice Place, Mostly Laid Back"
It was all in all a good experience. This hotel is far from any activities so bring your cab budget. It's like 100 ($7.50 USD) pesos to the Golden Zone. I found that much of Mazatlán is Spanish speaking only. My experiences in Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Playa Del Carmen, and Cancun had many more folks who were bilingual. Shame on me for not being but for a tourist town I'd expected a bit less trouble communicating with hotel staff. We were there for 6 nights and only had two real issues during the stay. The first was that they were replacing pool deck tiles with a hammer, chisel, and sometimes a jackhammer. This noise was unbearable, especially bright and early in the morning. A brief question to the head maintenance guy and the noise was limited to afternoon hours and stopped completely over the weekend. Gracias! The next was Sunday night when there were many local guests and everyone had a boombox and/or too much to drink making for loud voices. That quieted down about 11pm but 15m later, the Karaoke started up in the room above ours. They ran until about 3am. That was a bit tough. The final thing was that the pool could have been operated better. It was one of those 'zero edge' pools that requires water to spill over the edge to be automatically skimmed. The water level was too low so it wasn't being skimmed and after busy days there was a float of debris including body and tanning oils on the surface.

"Mexico getaway"
We go to Mexico regularly and often add a day or two to our regular week. This hotel is in a great location and right on the beach. The staff is very attentive. The restaurant and bar staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Happy hour is 1-2 everyday, and the restaurant has a good breakfast.

"Nice location great pool & beach. Food is average."
Stayed here many times years ago, tried it for a few nights since we were coming to this area for a weeks stay at another resort. pool is really nice, food is typical to average for Mexico. We had a on bedroom suite and all the best were very hard, soar hips in the morning, pillows were so hard and like sleeping in a rock. Buffet breakfast was good but they allow females to dine in strapless tops and cut off denim shorts with stings hanging and butt cheeks hanging out, however males can not done in anything sleeveless so after we were seated and plated our food up we were asked to go change due to tank top. They wanted our money so seated us and allowed us to plate up food before asking us to go change and then return to cold food. There ar two men that are managers who need to learn a lot from other successful resort management because all they did epwas walk around look arrogant and they were rude to both the guests and especially the servers in the dining area. At breakfast one day one of the manager men actually bumped a waiter causing him to drop plates that crashed all over and the manager stood with an angry face and shook his head shaming the waiter who had been running circles to meet guests needs. It was shameful how the manager blamed the waiter in front of everyone. We saw these two men in suits all around various places of the resort and not one time did they have a smile for guests etc they do El Cid no favors it would be best for the managers to go away.
