Decent hotel, lots of night life activities.

Posted Jan 26, 2016
This area is booming with night life. Dancing and drinking in one of the many bars to their nice music and satisfying alcoholic beverages.

Nice budget hotel.

Posted Dec 4, 2015
Pros: Room service was available. Flexible and early checkin.
Cons: Softer bed with more pillows. No blanket or comforter was provided for the bed.
Location: Lots of local restaurants, casino around the corner.
The bed could be softer. However this is great for the price. Wish they offered more rooms with airconditioner, but the weather was fine so that no Aircon was needed. This hotel is in the mayorista area, across from the truck stop complex with markets.

Good hotel short walk from metro

Posted Sep 10, 2015
Pros: The location
Cons: Cut some holes in the pool table. There's a table, cues, all balls, etc but no pockets!
Location: Short walk to the metro every morning takes you everywhere. Lot of prostitutes around the corner, but a lot of friendly people.
Room was cleaned every day. Restaurant has pretty good food at a decent price. You can eat better and eat cheaper, but it's so convenient. No A/C but room had a fan and it was enough. Just keep your window open. I didn't spend any time during the day at the hotel anyway; I was exploring Medellin! You should too. Small room yet efficient. Good view from the bar upstairs. Pool table isn't functional though. Staff were very friendly. When I go back to Medellin I will definitely consider here again. Cheap, clean, close to metro.

Newer hotel that's good value for the money.

Posted Feb 19, 2015
Pros: Good value, cleanness and hotel staff.
Cons: Across from large distribution market so AM hours will have some noise if room is on that side.
Location: About 1/2 mile from metro where single trip tickets are 2000 pesos. Several local cafes around corner and also couple blocks over.
Stayed for 3 nights at 19 US dollars a nite. Hotel is newer hotel, located about 1/2 mile from metro station. I thought area was safe and walked to and from metro at nite and never felt threaten. Has rooftop bar that has good views. Hotel staff will wash your clothes on site. No a/c but room fan was adequate.

Excellent service , staff really good, th wry make you feel like home. Restaurant pricea are really affordable ,they have a menu everyday for$4.5 which include a drink. The only cons about this hotel it is too noisy, you need a earhead or just heard some music or tv, besides that excellent! :-)

Hotel Alcaravan

Posted Apr 12, 2014
Pros: Good rates, wi fi, and accessibility to town centre by taxi (about 15 minutes ride)
Cons: Much less noise!
Location: Not much, perhaps short walks. But good shopping and restaurants a short tai ride away. There's also a metro station nearby, cheap & clean
Room rates were good. The hotel was basic and clean, but constantly noisy - day and night. The rooms are overlooking a central atrium and acoustics were very poor. There's constant movement and noise. The kitchen is located in that central atrium so your nose is constantly assaulted by the smell of cooking. Hotel staff were friendly enough but spoke very little English so communication was difficult. I moved out after 1 night

Hotel Alcaravan

Posted Feb 21, 2014
Pros: Price. Location. Nice staff.
Location: Close to the Metro. Make sure you buy a pass with multiple trips so you can avoid the frequent long lines.
The Hotel Alcaravan is located in the Itagui neighborhood of Medellin, Columbia close to the Ayura Metro stop and many buses. The hotel is inexpensive but totally adequate with a comfortable bed, private bathroom and very nice staff (if you speak Spanish and really why not learn if you don't?). The neighborhood is not a swanky tourist locale like Poblado but more of a working class type place with a huge market complex across the street. You can easily take the Metro anywhere but I recommend taking a taxi at night. I always travel with earplugs and you'll probably need them for street noise. The room has a fan, which was adequate for the hotter hours of the day. The hotel has rooms facing the inner core of the building and others with windows facing the street. For $24 this is a great find! I would stay again without hesitation.
