Thank you for your comments on Riad O2. The Medina, or old town of Marrakech is a little intimidating the first time you arrive in its narrow alleyways full of hustle and bustle but it is the authentic heart of Marrakech. Riad O2 is in the Medina but once you step through our doorway you are in a relaxing haven of peace and tranquility.

We responded directly to this guest on the 11 April. Dear Maiya, Apologies for the delay in getting back to you but we wanted to speak to all the staff in Marrakech before replying to you. We are very disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your stay at Riad O2 and particularly that you were unhappy with the service which we pride ourselves on. Hisham, the driver who accompanied you and showed you to your room, has been working with us for many years and is now part of the "Riad O2 family". It is not unusual for him to help out with guests if needed. We have a small staff, two Rachida's, cleaning ladies and in-house cooks, Hassan, the night guardian and waiter, and Moad, the young manager. Moad is there usually in the morning to assist guests with any activities they would like to do or to answer any questions, same in the evening, unless he has something unexpected to do, as happened when you arrived and therefore could not greet you personally. ......... In our confirmation email we ask guests to give us plenty of notice if they want to have dinner at the riad as Rachida, our cook goes to the market every morning and prepares dinner for the reservations that evening. Moad, our Manager, came out of the office to offer you a light meal when he heard you requesting dinner and that Hassan, our waiter in the evening, prepared for you an omelette, with bread, olives and cheese, and served the same also for other guests. We apologise for any inconvenience caused during your stay and if you felt unwelcomed by our staff.

Dear Charlotte, Thank you for taking the time to review Riad O2 on Expedia. As you said at this time of year it is colder in Marrakech but there is heating in all of the rooms which also serves as air-conditioning in the Summer or hotter months. We do have a hair dryer available at reception and apologies if you weren't made aware of this, unfortunately in the past, these have disappeared from rooms so we keep them at reception to make sure they are available when guests need them. Dear guest, Thank you for your feedback, we always appreciate and take on board feedback from our guests.We have already been in contact several times by email with you to respond to your feedback having taken on board your comments. The reservation was made by you for your parents and we communicated all the information regarding the cost of meals and transfers. However your parents seemed unaware of this information and this is what created the issues which revolved around cost of meals and transfers. Our Manager who speaks excellent English, met the guests on arrival and explained as he does with all our guests the points of interest in Marrakech and gave them a map and showed the guests where they were and the points of interest. Our priority is always the well-being of our guests and our communication policy is open and honest with guests which in this case was not returned.

Thank you for your feedback on your stay at Riad O2. Traditional Moroccan food is slow cooked and takes a while to cook so it is completely normal that tajines or couscous dishes are prepared early in the day and then just reheated in the evening. This also gives the dishes time to develop the flavours and spices used. All the ingredients are fresh and bought on the day they are used. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your massage.Did you have a hammam treatment or a massage? The hammam treatment is an exfoliation treatment but not a massage. Local taxis will leave you at the local square and you have to go there also to find a taxi when you are leaving the riad whereas our drivers accompany you to and from the riad and can help you with your luggage. They are there at a time fixed by you so nothing is left to chance. We hope this explains the difference which could occur if you compare standard taxis and our transfer service. Thank you again for staying at Riad O2 and we appreciate your feedback.

Dear Paul, Thank you for your feedback on your stay at Riad O2. We are disappointed to learn that you did not enjoy the food at our riad. It is usually very positively commented on. Breakfast consists of Moroccan pancakes, bread / pastries a large glass of orange juice per person and fresh fruit salad. As you said we provide 2 types of jam and honey. This breakfast is included in the room rate. Guests can have eggs or cheese but we do ask for a small additional charge in this case. Dinner on the first evening is €17 per person and then on subsequent evenings is offered at a special rate of €15 per adult which includes a starter such as soup or a selection of Moroccan salads, then a tajine or couscous, followed by a dessert and mint tea and Moroccan pastries to finish. Children under 4 eat free with their parents at Riad O2, dinner for children under 8 is €7 and from 8 to 12 years dinner is priced at €10. We love having children at Riad O2 and of course are conscious of the budget needs of families so again we are sorry to hear that you felt we were not family friendly. Dear Katarina, We are sorry to hear that you left without staying at Riad O2, maybe there was a misunderstanding but according to our Manager the reason that you left Riad O2 was its location. Riad O2 is in the Medina or old town of Marrakech, the streets are narrow and can be dark, maybe you were unfortunate to arrive before the local authorities had passed to collect rubbish and given this is Africa, people do leave their rubbish on the streets but it is collected every day and the streets cleaned as well. The entire Riad was repainted and renovated in June of 2019 so cannot agree with your comment about the cleanliness of Riad O2 which we feel is not accurate. Kind regards, Annette McQuillan

Riad O2 is located in the old city of Marrakech and unfortunately the streets there are narrow and can be dark and of course busy but this is life in the old city which is the real authentic Marrakech. The streets are cleaned every day so maybe you were unlucky to pass at a moment before rubbish collection.
