メルボルン大学に近い

Posted Aug 30, 2015
Pros:

Close to everything yet reasonable, great food!

Posted Aug 21, 2015
Pros: See above.
Close to University of Melbourne campuses, as well as to public transport and to shopping and many many great local restaurants. I would especially recommend the hotel bar and restaurant. The bar is comfortable and provides great service -- the wines we were served were excellent, without being expensive. The staff was very serviceable. Of special mention is the restaurant and its wonderful food. The steaks are truly to die for, as are the battered french fries (which are standard). All in all, a very nice experience!

Central, clean, well priced

Posted Jul 9, 2015
Pros: Centrally located, views to a park from dining areas, clean and good sized rooms
Cons: The rate charged was I thought fare for the location, but we all still want it cheaper
Location: 10 minute gentle stroll into the city, the same or less to the Lygon st resteraunts. But far enough out to be able to get a 4hr metred car park
I parked in a metred area outside the hotel, Entered to a nice lobby and friendly staff. The room was clean and a good size. The wifi actually worked. A snack of chicken wings provided free with the drinks 3 of us had ordered was a nice touch. It was a gentle stroll into town the next day

Pros: Location, large room size
Cons: Needs a makeover - softer mattresses and better soundproofing
I found the Mattress too hard and the tram noise too loud. We had to get the room changed because of the state of the mattress (smell). But it's a good location if you like to eat in Lygon St or are visiting the hospitals.

Handy Hotel close to CBD and Universities

Posted May 31, 2015
Pros: The location was good and the beds were comfortable. The free WiFi for work purposes was fast.
Cons: Room was small esp bathroom. Closet space was barely adequate for one. Needed repairs and looked old/tired mostly. Reception & staff very basic.
Location: Can walk into town but is two stops outside the free Tram Zone so will need to negotiate Myki. Close to universities, museum, parks and good food.
On a conference at a University within driving distance so position was good. Also suited as could walk into town for the cocktail evening which was on one night. Reception was manned but very basic with several fellow guests having issues on billing, getting information about area etc. Very little literature at desk. Obviously a conference venue so perhaps not that interested in other guests who were more 'tourist'. Whole place looked tired with minimal effort. Room was definitely on the small side and although a double queen - barely adequate for me alone. Especially bathroom and closet which was stuffed with an ironing board so few items I had for two-night stay barely had room to hang or be placed. Room was hot but reasonably quiet and beds comfortable. This was a last minute booking based on location predominately and so knew would impact room given - in the back without a view so not phased by that. The free WiFi was a plus for work purposes. Parking was of course minimal, cramped and at a premium price. Room service was reasonably quick. For the price, paying for location but little else. Good for business people in and out with business on doorstep. But for others would suggest there are better options for the price - especially for students, families and tourists.
