A true home from homePosted Aug 13, 2015
Pros: Its location, the staff, that there were suites available, the breakfasts, the facilities in the rooms, the on site spa, and its small intimate scale
Cons: I like it just as it is
Location: Chapel St & Toorak Rd shopping, the Botanical Gardens, CBD for shopping & dining in the laneways, Emporio, South Bank, Crown Casino esp Spice Temple
I was there with my elderly and one-legged mother. Nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful friendly staff, from the team on the front desk through to the barristas in the breakfast nook and the housekeeping staff. Whether it was taxis, laundry, ensuring there was a showering stool for my mum, sorting out spa appointments or rental cars everyone was most obliging, helpful and friendly. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite and it was just like having our own apartment - exactly what I was looking for. Breakfasts in the hotel were fantastic and the coffees were just perfect. Absolutely perfect for a relaxing home base for a shopping / restaurant trip. And with an in-house spa too. If you're wanting a holiday to lounge by the pool, this won't be the hotel for you (and Melbourne isn't really that sort of town). But this is spot on for girls' weekends (close to Chapel St shops too). I've only been back one day and already recommended it to a colleague :)

Great location and comfortable boutique feel,Posted Jul 11, 2015

This time I was quite disappointed with my stay at this hotel due to the noise from the construction site which stated very early in the morning, at least by 7am if not earlier. The noise was difficult to ignore as it was just outside my window. The most disappointing part was that this was not mentioned at the time of booking or checking in to the hotel, nor was another room offered or a discount offered on the $288 per night rate that I was charged. Also, looking around the room it is now starting to look a bit tired as the 60's bedspreads should be changed and replaced with something a bit more luxurious and white!!! the tables and lounges in the rooms are also very dated.....they were in room 304. Thank you.

Fantastic position in RichmondPosted May 15, 2015
Cons: Single beds may or may not need replacing soonish...
Location: Richmond, close to the Corner Hotel which was the reason for our stay -
Everything was fantastic with this hotel. The staff were great, the rooms were fantastic. My only issue was that my bed (twin double room) was uncomfortable. As we only stayed one night, this wasn't too much of an issue however…..

Calm and couteousPosted May 9, 2015
Pros: Location: on number 8 tram route and just a few minutes walk to South Yarra railway station which has frequent trains taking 7 minutes into the city.
Staff very helpful with all matters. Bikes available for free. Make sure you ask for a quiet location if you want to be away from the building works on the adjacent site.

Great location but noisy due to construction sitePosted Apr 20, 2015 on Hotels
Great location close to tons of shops and restaurants. Friendly efficient service from the staff. Do note that there is a massive construction site next door and the drilling is very loud from 7am onwards. The rooms are spacious but could use a deep cleaning and facelift.

Very convenient location South Yarra and Chapel StPosted Apr 18, 2015
Pros: Pleasant rooms to rest, good gym facility for the hotel size, real coffee on offer in the rooms. Courteous and efficient staff.
Cons: I would look at the menu, breakfast and lunch may have more choice eg breakfast only cour dough bread or croisants available - no whole grain for exam
Location: Close to South Yarra shopping area of Chapel Street, easy access to Melbourne city centre by tram, art gallery and Botanoical Gdns within walking dist
On arrival I found that the area I requested was not available. However, the room change was made and all good. The food is somewhat expensive for what is on offer. Rooms are very well designed, great living room area and excellent bathrrooms with glass showers though spacewise bathrooms little on the squeeze side.

Style and locationPosted Apr 12, 2015
Pros: Location, room size and staff
Cons: Lighting in bathrooms and the provided teabags let the experience down. T2 would be commensurate with the overall quality of the hotel
Location: Breakfast at Top Paddock in Richmond and Kettle Black in South Melbourne are a must.
This was our second stay at the Lyall. The location is excellent for access to city and the burbs, especially the breakfast eateries in South Melbourne and Richmond. The staff were friendly and exceptionally helpful, the service excellent and the rooms large enough for sustained comfort over several days.
