#ChowTime Put some South in your mouth and this Beale street restaurant. I had the BBQ chopped salad. It is a sweet BBQ sauce. They mix it with ranch for an incredible dressing! Le Le, a Panda from the Memphis Zoo, really enjoys his naps. I know the feels bear. You are my spirit animal. (It was only noon, way too early to be up)
Le Le (pronounced luh luh), is the male panda in the zoo, and his name means Happy Happy. He did wake up a couple times, but only long enough to switch sleeping positions and go right back to sleep. Always with a paw over his face though.

#MemphisZoo OMG! Best BBQ in Memphis! We got the sausage and cheese appetizer and then split a full rack and chicken. So good. Kid friendly, as it was great fun to play eye spy! Memphis is a cool place to visit. The train station is in the area where Mystery Train was filmed. The Arcade restaurant is across the street. Famous because it was in the movie and mostly because that is where Elvis used to eat. An amazing museum on Civil Rights from slavery to present. Famous Beale St, I was there a bit early in the night, very fun and lots of music, cool stores, and people to watch. Police presence which is never a bad thing. Trolley was helpful. Sun Studio, where Elvis recorded his first album BBQ baloney - perhaps the best appetizer I've ever had. Tried to replicate it but it was not the same. Crunchy and tasty!!! Go to museum on free day Wednesday, good for kids and adults, then go to zoo next door. #WeekendGetaway #Colorful Meet Ya Ya, a Giant Panda in the Memphis Zoo. This beautiful little girl (which happens to be what Ya Ya means in Mandarin) loves her bamboo.
The Memphis Zoo is home to leading research on Panda nutrition, where Ya Ya and her partner Le Le are fed over 7 different types of bamboo at least 5 times a day. This type of research could help develop a food source that is more nutritional for the bears, and help them bounce back from the edge of extinction.

#MemphisZoo Super cool Memphis restaurant bar concept in the south side of downtown Memphis. Choose from curated wines, aged barrel whiskey, and a smoked/grilled kitchen menu A rural oasis in the middle of downtown Memphis neighborhood featuring wood fired and smoked cuisine and a full bar The smoke house is a screened outdoor kitchen area with a smoker and masonry grill. Patio overlooks beautiful waterfall as a centerpiece of this outdoor oasis. While exploring historic Beale street and Civil rights sites downtown, have a good Southern soul food meal here. I had heard the bass pro shops were pretty cool but this one takes the prize!
This bass pro shop is not only a store but an attraction. Besides the usual, there is an elevator that will take you to the top of the pyramid. Once at the top, you can choose to sit at a beautiful bar (shown in the picture), which I found out serves as a venue for special events. I don't even want to think about the amount of money it would cost though. In addition, you can step outside into the balcony for a view of the city and the river. Pretty sunset! Giant Pandas spend most of their days resting, eating, or finding food, which consist almost entirely of Bamboo.
Ironically, despite sleeping so much on a daily basis, Pandas do not hibernate, instead foraging for food all winter long.

#MemphisZoo This is the view from the top of the pyramid. I think the picture could be better on a better day (weather/season). I wonder if he has a tat on the other arm... Two words: the ducks. These ducks march into the fountain in the middle of the hotel two times a day, swim around for a while, then march right back out and ride an elevator up to their suite. True story. I couldn't make that up. Peabody Hotel tradition. Tamp & Tap in downtown Memphis is just my kind of place. I would go here to work on my laptop all the time if I lived in Memphis. There are plenty of places to sit and do your thing. My chai tea was sweet and delicious and the food was good, too.

In fact, it was absolutely delightful. We always like to share dishes so everybody in our group got to try everything that was ordered. The restaurant itself is bigger than it looks, so don't be dissuaded if the front room looks full. It wouldn't hurt to call ahead for a reservation just in case.

To discover the untapped potential of an abandoned, historic property, some folks in Memphis got together and transformed an empty space into a truly unique venue. It's open Thursday through Sunday with a simple bar inside, a food truck in the terrace, a few games like darts and air hockey, and plenty of open space to hang out in an unexpected setting with old friends or new acquaintances. We spent a good half hour just walking around in admiration of it all.
This may be a temporary venture so go soon and don't miss out!

Not your typical Irish bar 😜 I heard this place was awesome so I decided to visit. As a newbie, I felt rushed to order because you have to place your order before you sit. Once we sat, though, the food came pretty quickly. The flavor of the food was good but my brisket (what I really was looking forward to eating) was cold. Regardless, I enjoyed the visit. Great southern food at the Arcade Restaurant. It won't change your life, but an historic restaurant that is kid friendly if you are blowing through town.
