Very dirty hotel! Not a 4 star

Posted Apr 14, 2017
This hotel is listed as a 4 star hotel, but it is soooo dirty! My room wasn't even cleaned when I arrived. There was hair everywhere, the bathroom clearly had not been cleaned, and there was trash lying around. There was even a leaky ceiling. And a very strange and ugly painting that was right next to the TV. It was clearly there to cover up something nasty on the wall. Everything in this hotel is dirty. The rooms, the lobby, and overall it has a weird smell. The location is excellent for sure. But I don't think I'll stay here again. If you want to stay a 4 star hotel, please clean the rooms. I travel a lot and this is nowhere near any 4 star hotel I have seen before! There are better places in Memphis to stay. That being said, the staff is very friendly and nice. They are helpful with directions and stuff. And it is in a great location. So if you don't mind a stinky room, maybe this is for you.

Toilet dirty and no one put it right

Posted Apr 14, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Housekeeping was terrible for a hotel let alone one in this price bracket
When we turned up the room looked nice and comfortable, until we went to the bathroom The toilet was used but not flushed and there was no toilet roll on the dispenser. There was urine on the seat. I had to find the spare roll, unwrap it and put it on the dispenser. Clean the seat and flush the contents away. I reported it to reception in person as there was no information in the room to tell me how to contact them using the room phone. I later went back to complain that the glass top on the dressing table was filthy with sticky rings from where someone had spilt a ring and not cleaned up. No one took any action to get it sorted out. When I left, I raised the same issues and asked for a response from the hotel which I was promised. Never heard a word in response Overall, in a great place and if it wasn't for shocking standards of cleanliness it would have been a positive feedback

Beautiful suites in the heart of downtown Memphis

Posted Apr 4, 2017
Pros: Loved the location, amenities, and access to downtown/highway
Cons: The attention to detail in room servicing could use some work.
Location: Beale Street is so close! If you're into that sort of thing :) Also close to the Riverfront + parks + so much good food.
My stay at this wonderful downtown gem was quite delightful overall. I booked a junior suite and requested a crib for my 19-month-old. Out of the past 4 hotels we have stayed at in the last few months, this was the first one that a) actually had a record of the request somewhere, AND b) had it in the room and set up when we arrived. The room was clean upon arrival and everything was well-stocked. There were a couple of restocking issues during the stay. One problem was with the coffee. The used cup was not cleaned and the coffee was restocked with decaf. The other was with tissues. We used the tissues before leaving for the day so my wife disposed of the empty box and left the empty holder in the bathroom sink so it would be easily noticed. We returned to find the holder relocated to it's proper place and still completely empty. The valet service was nice. I was traveling with 2 children under 4 so parking elsewhere and walking to the hotel late at night wasn't really my preferred option. The nightly cost for the service was very reasonable as well. The room service menu was a bit lacking, and once I read the fine print about an automatic fixed delivery fee + 21% gratuity added I immediately chose other options. I don't pre-tip anyone for service because that defeats the entire purpose, some definitions, and certainly the spirit of the word, gratuity. Overall, we had a great stay at an iconic hotel in a perfectly sized suite with a super comfortable bed.

Quirky modern boutique hotel

Posted Apr 4, 2017
Staff were friendly and welcoming. Hotel vibe was fun, vibrant, and comfort. We especially like the album covers in the elevator and all the windows in our room. Bed/pillows were very comfortable along with the sofa and chair in the sitting room. In-room coffee only comes with powder creamer ( they really should consider upgrading the coffee service.) Room service food and service was lovely. The shower had wonderful water pressure but the overall bathroom needed some care and attention. We stayed one night and would recommend for a short stay.

We are repeat customers of The Madison Hotel. The hotel is a great downtown Memphis location, close to Beale St. The rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel staff from valet to check in and even the hotel restaurant is fantastic. Very nice and very helpful.

Great Location and Dog Friendly

Posted Apr 2, 2017
Pros: The staff was all very friendly. It is dog friendly.
Location: Go to the rooftop bar. Easy walk to Sun Records and the Larraine Motel.
Loved everything about this place. Staff is super-friendly and helpful, location is central and convenient for river walk. And, dog friendly. Close to parks. The rooftop bar has a fantastic view and the dog was welcome there, too.

We had a great stay. Staff was awesome. So friendly. Valet is the absolute best. We had a great experience with a valet guy named Cortez. He was the best. We felt safe and he kept us informed.
