Beautiful suites in the heart of downtown Memphis
Posted Apr 4, 2017
My stay at this wonderful downtown gem was quite delightful overall. I booked a junior suite and requested a crib for my 19-month-old. Out of the past 4 hotels we have stayed at in the last few months, this was the first one that a) actually had a record of the request somewhere, AND b) had it in the room and set up when we arrived.
The room was clean upon arrival and everything was well-stocked. There were a couple of restocking issues during the stay. One problem was with the coffee. The used cup was not cleaned and the coffee was restocked with decaf. The other was with tissues. We used the tissues before leaving for the day so my wife disposed of the empty box and left the empty holder in the bathroom sink so it would be easily noticed. We returned to find the holder relocated to it's proper place and still completely empty.
The valet service was nice. I was traveling with 2 children under 4 so parking elsewhere and walking to the hotel late at night wasn't really my preferred option. The nightly cost for the service was very reasonable as well.
The room service menu was a bit lacking, and once I read the fine print about an automatic fixed delivery fee + 21% gratuity added I immediately chose other options. I don't pre-tip anyone for service because that defeats the entire purpose, some definitions, and certainly the spirit of the word, gratuity.
Overall, we had a great stay at an iconic hotel in a perfectly sized suite with a super comfortable bed.
