Worn Down Dirty Shame

After check-in, my family proceeded to our room and the keys did not work. Two more attempts to program our key for that room were made by the receptionist before we were given a different room across the hall. Room was not clean to my standards. The bathroom had hair on the counter, on the floor and in the shower, dirty mirrors, soap and toothpaste residue left near the sink from the previous guest. The bedding did appear to be clean, and we checked under mattress for bed bugs and did not find any. Behind the mattresses we did find an empty beer bottle, fleece blanket from previous guest and used Kleenex. It was late at night and we had a long drive, so we decided to crash here regardless and take hot showers. The water was warm and I am hoping the towels were clean. Décor was worn out, mixed matched. You could tell the owners were trying to update, but I don't know that just a layer of paint on the walls would help. Breakfast was very boring. The only hot item was a package of sausage and biscuits that you could microwave. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, or stay here again.
