He stunningly beautiful Mendocino coastline. Mendocino has many of these cool water/watch towers around town. August 2014
After a conference I attended in San Francisco, we headed up the coast to the quaint Mendocino Farmhouse. Its a small B&B nestle in the woods few miles away from the coast. The region is wonderful and the food is great.

In the late 1950s, artists moved north to Mendocino County, bewitched by the breathtaking natural beauty and tranquility of the area.
Mendocino boasts more artists per square mile than any other County in the US and artists’ studios and galleries can be found in most of US's small towns and villages. This hotel is listed in the National Registry of Historic Places. It overlooks the Pacific Ocean and Mendocino Headlands and judging from the date of establishment, It dates back as early as 1878. A time when Mendocino was known for its booming logging trade. Originally opened as a Temperance house, a house that advocated a moderate approach to life especially concerning the consumption of alcohol. It was considered, according to current Hotel management, as “the one bastion of good Christian morals in a town of loggers.” Now, a hotel dating back as early as the 1800s would definitely have a resident Ghost. Ghosts, you say? Rumor has it, much as in the inns and castles of England, that the Hotel has its own ghost, a Victorian lady who haunts tables number six and eight in the dining room. She has been seen in one of the lobby mirrors and front desk personnel report that sometimes in the middle of the night their name is spoken behind them but no one is there….#roadtrip #Roadtrip Mendocino’s Unique Water Towers
For more than a century, Mendocino water towers and accompanying windmills have captured the attention of visitors and writers alike. In 1892, one reporter observed during her stay, “an individuality about the water works of this town not found in any other place.”
Early settlers were blessed with plentiful water supplies from nearby creeks and rivers, which facilitated the luxury of piped water into the house. All one needed was a windmill tall enough to catch coastal breezes to power the pumps, and a tank positioned high enough to provide adequate water pressure.
Explore Mendocino historic village with old buildings such as this former Masonic temple built with redwoods, museum, shops, cafés and great ocean views. #StunningStructures Stop in at this house and museum to learn history of the Mendocino coast and enjoy view of ocean from the porch. Also see all the water towers around town.
