Great location with hostel-like accommodations

Posted Oct 24, 2016
Pros: The location is stunning, on the Main Street of Mendocino with a view that rivals just about any place on earth.
Cons: The rooms can be tiny, really tiny. Mostly shared bathrooms. Rooms are clean but a little dog eared.
Location: Just walk around, hit Cafe Beaujolais, go taste wine on highway 128.

Great location, tiny rooms, missing things

Posted Sep 21, 2016
Room was small and dark (room 22) and desperately needed a table or surface to put things on besides a 12 x 12 nightstand. Location can't be beat, and the room was clean. Bed was old, but not terribly uncomfortable. Not a bad stay for the price, would probably try to get a better room with more windows if staying again and that would make a world of difference. Lots of smells from the kitchen which was nice for a bit, but quickly became not as pleasant...not sure how to fix that. Felt like I was on the set of. BBC murder mystery. Definitely not a hotel I would recommend to everyone, but if you are flexible and look at accommodation as a place to sleep and shower that needs to be clean and have some personality as a bonus, stay here.

Hotel needs some modern updating

Posted Aug 28, 2016
Very small rooms. Not enough clothes space. Wifi connection in room is poor. Cafe' downstairs emits gas fumes and smell of food upstairs. The carpet has a damp and musky smell to it. The bed frame is squeaky.

Called for missing log for fireplace. Reply, "oh your fireplace doesn't work, but your heat does!"

Charming town

Posted Aug 17, 2016
Pros: Charming area, surrounded with patches of garden. Many nice antiques.
Cons: Garden needs tending. More pillows on bed. Outlets were loose to charge phone and tablet. Love the antiques but a comfortable chair would be nice.
Location: Close to ocean, shopping, and dining. Wonderful village to walk through. The hotel has a B&B feel.
Was a once a charming hotel that is showing its age. Some beautiful antiques. Checking in took awhile. They probably need to update their computer system.

Worst hotel room ever

Posted Aug 11, 2016
I can't believe they charge $95 US dollars for a closet sized room. There was a double bed that was against the wall and had no room to move around

Fabulous location, great affordable room

Posted Aug 10, 2016
Location: Drive/walk along the whole headland and go north of Mendocino to the Russian Gulch State Park for more AWESOME views!
Wow, what a great location right on Main Street in Mendocino. Really love the character of the hotel and room. Shared bathrooms were fine, plus a sink in the room. Bed comfortable etc. Definitely old with creaking floors and a small room (only a bedside table fit on one side of bed) but I LOVED it!

Not at all welcoming

Posted Aug 9, 2016
Did not get any smile of welcome from the staff here. Barman exceedingly grumpy and reluctant to serve drinks at his bar. Even turned the lights out at 9pm. Shame as hotel is a beautiful building in a beautiful setting.

Vintage, interesting, great location

Not modern so stay here if you like more vintage. Rooms are big! Bed comfortable! Clean. Would love small fridge
