horrible hotel, poor staff

I was in town for my grandfathers funeral. I booked my room a few days in advance, and requested a non smoking room. I have a one year old who was also there with me. When I checked in they had put me in a smoking room, they moved me to a new room. The first night was not horrible. The second night we had neighbors who where very very loud and beating on my walls. They were beating on the walls so bad that an outlet has popped out of the wall ( I know this for a fact due to having a one year old who is learning he can't touch them, I had told him several times to stay out of that same one). After calling the front desk multiple times and nothing being done I was beyond irritated. My child could not sleep and we had a funeral the next morning. About 3:30 in the morning they finally got quiet and we were able to sleep a few hours. The next morning I had requested to talk to the manager, first I was told at 8:30 the manager would be in by 9:00. Then again at 9:15 I was told she would be in by 10:00. Then at 10:00 I was told that they were not sure when she would be in. It was clear that the guy working the front desk was getting irritated by me, so I checked out and decided to say somewhere else. I requested that the manager call me and was told "we can't say she will." So I went straight to corporate. I do not suggest this hotel to anyone, rude, disrespectful staff, they do not follow their "quiet hours" policy. And I have yet to talk to the manager!

hotel stay

Pros: location
Cons: cleaner more up to date
Location: the location is in Merrillville Indiana and its near shopping eating places.
there was damage to some of the furniture and the carpet. carpet was not very clean. $50. deposit in addition to payment for the room via credit card seemed odd - or perhaps a money grab or scam.

Not that great

My kid and family members were crying because when they got in the pool there body's were burning and they had to get in the shower right away and that's really why we want there for the pool very sad.

Hotel was easily accessible off of 65 and had plenty of amenities around it. Hotel staff was exceedingly friendly and very quick to help with any questions. Room was large and clean and the kids loved the pool!

The hotel was clean as was the room,the front desk staff and housekeeping staff were very kind.its in a great area,good contenintal breakfast.who doesn't love waffles fresh from the iron??? The pool and hot tub are being renovated at this time but I would definitely stay again...great value.great experience.

Nice hotel ,unfortunately we were looking forward to swimming and hot tub but under renovati ok n. Would have chosen other option if I had known in advance

Staff was kind. Room needed thorough cleaning.

When we checked in, the clerk told us the pool and hot tub were closed for renovation...not what we wanted to hear, as this was the main reason we had chosen the hotel. No mention was made of it at time of reservation earlier that week. Went to the room, and there was black mold in the shower. Also there was food or debris of some sort dried to the door and dresser. Cobwebs were hanging from the ceiling. Visible layer of dust on beds, dresser & night stand. I made the clerk aware of the room condition. He was kind, and suggested we move to a new room. New room bathroom was no better; black mold in the corner of the shower, broken drain lever and stopper in the shower, and vent system didn't work. Not a happy camper!

Late night check in

Pros: It was very clean and our room was in great condition. The bed was comfortable.
Location: Easy on/off of the expressway which is all we needed on this trip.
We tried to make it all the way to Chicago but got a late start. We were way too tired to go further, and set our sights on Merrillville. I went to Expedia and booked a very reasonably priced room at Best Western. The staff at the front desk was very nice and we were very pleased with the cleanliness of our room. We had an early flight out of Chicago the next morning and and had to leave early, so we did not get to eat breakfast. I'm not even sure if breakfast is offered but I assume it is.

It was OK but a couple of things need work

I think it was OK for the price but need to do some more house keeping in the pool area the jacuzzi needed to be cleaned a the Jets needed maintainence the room was fine but the breakfast was mediocre other than that not bad for the price
