In the past food was much better, not enough options at breakfast etc. The front stairs to enter so dirty as well as the pool area nothing cleaned daily including pool chairs. We will not go back The air conditioning was horrendous too!!!! We will not return.

This is one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. To say that this is a 5 star hotel is laughable. I am upset with Expedia for representing it as such. Location: Disgusting. It’s in the ghetto. 30 minute walk to Naxos. 45 min walk to Taormina. All through a dump. Check in: I was given a key to a room. The key worked, and I opened the door on two people in bed. All of us were shocked. Aside from being unpleasant, this is not secure!!! When approaching the concierge, they blamed it on Expedia. Do you mean to tell me your 5 star system doesn’t know if a room is occupied??? I’m a single woman traveling. What if someone walked in on me in the middle of night? Or stolen my belongings? Food: Honestly, I looked at their breakfast and decided it was safer to stay hungry. Room: Broken shower. Hard bed. No blanket. Weak AC. Very old. Price: Absurd for the stressful experience I had there. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

A mixed bag
Convenient to visit Taormina since you can leave car in lot for 12 euro or park free nearby. However, we called hotel desk from Taormina to ask where shuttle was picking us up and desk operator Francisco said it wasn't his job to tell us. He was mean in other ways. We returned to an ant infestation and he didn't care. Here's the problem for women traveling in sicily without a man, you will find an enormous amount of rude and dismissive behavior. Must use hotels.com in order not to get taken advantage of. Great deals and desk clerk can't harrass you since all is printed out and priced. This hotel was good because it's near beach and wonderful boating. Also an excellent breakfast included.

Lovely spacious room with view over the pool & bay. Short walk to waterfront restaurant & beach club, unfortunately beach was closed the day we wanted to go due to weather ( which did clear up) Handy bus to & from Top of Taormina to book. Very comfortable, quiet room. Short walk to waterfront restaurants or bus to panoramic views, shopping & restaurants.

This hotel was nice and clean. However for a 5 star lacked a number of the facilities. There was no information in the room about the cost of room service or any trips or the cost of the spa. There was no ability to make coffee in the room. I would not normally expect local people to understand English but in a five star hotel I would, but even on the front desk the level of English was poor. The pool and spa was only open from 10 til 6. Which meant that you only could use them if you weren’t going on a day trip. Also the menu was very limited. Not at all what I expected from a 5 star. However The breakfast buffet was excellent.

Nice Quiet Area
We loved this hotel, the only problem we had was the Wifi didn't work well needs updating and would like some American TV shows not just news shows. Food was outstanding !!!

Big hotel but none of the facilities were open
The hotel offers lots of facilities, but none of them were open - no private beach, no main pool, no pizza and bbq area, no mini-golf etc. It was a real shame as everyone was crammed to the one small pool by the reception area with no apology or explanation. The breakfast was absolute chaos - not enough tables and as all the coffees/teas are provided by 1 bloke behind the bar, they took ages to come, if at all. The evening bar had no gin, no pimms, no baileys, no amaretto .. so I ended with a bellini. The staff were all super friendly and tried to be as helpful as possible but they are let down by the hotel being mostly shut down and not able to provide all the services they should.

Not good value for money
I got the impression from the hotel photos that it was located near the beachfront but actually it is 'hemmed in' amongst apartment blocks in the back streets, We were told the ground floor pool is not in use because of staff shortages. The rooftop pool is lovely although less shaded. Children under 14yrs are not permitted in the indoor pool. The room was comfortable and clean. We stayed in much nicer hotels in Sicily for the same price.

Expensive luxury but worth it
Absolutely lovely hotel, with a fantastic pool. It has a private beach on the Mediterranean a few blocks away. The Diamond was the finest hotel at which we stayed in Italy. It had a huge pool on the third floor with a unique fixture that poured water on you and massaged your back. One free wine and serving of hors d'oeuvres one night at the gorgeous lower pool, which is only for display but not people. The air conditioning was not able to keep the room comfortable, but otherwise the room was great, with a balcony over the pool. Note: like many European beaches, there is no sand but rocks. If you want to dip, suggest you bring water shoes. Restaurant is very expensive. Breakfast was excellent in the same space.

This certainly does not qualify for a five star rating we could go on and on but its living in the past decor wise the breakfast is not 5 star and what lets it down is the location seedy area and horrendous struggle with the constant walk to get to the place. Sorry, you pay for everything including parking on the hotel grounds what a place !!!!

Relaxing time in Sicily
The overall stay was most enjoyable. The hotel was everything that you'd expect, however the overall atmosphere was a degree too formal. It is not possible to fault any of the staff or facilities nevertheless the experience would have been exceptional had everyone just 'lightened up' for some of the time. Also accept that customers may in certain circumstances like to fend for themselves by at least giving them the option of in-room tea/coffee facilities. The fact that the apparent lack of clientele resulted in many of the added value facilities being unavailable was of some disappointment - for instance we would have loved to have experienced the pizzeria and poolside kitchens. The food was of a high standard, however the same can be said of the local restaurant just over 300m away, therefore the prices in comparison seem high. Overall though a great holiday!

Everything was perfect including their private beach. Breakfast offerred everying you could possibly want including cbampagne. The oudoor pool was fantastic. It was fun going for walks and exploring the neighborhood for lovely local pastries and fruits

Functional but average enough
This is a hotel with two personalities. On the one hand its clean, comfortable and modern enough, but on the other it's completely lacking in character and charm. I would best describe this as 'functional' and reasonable value given that Taormina/Naxos is pretty expensive in general. The photos sell the place well but in reality, the hotel is hidden away in a maze of narrow back streets in an area with little to offer. Our room was fit for one purpose - sleeping. The windows and balcony only looked out on to other windows and balconies from the hotel, not that the hotel has much of a sea view to offer anyway. A malfunctioning LCD display on the wall for the aircon blinked all night, illuminating the room like a strobe light. The hotel night staff offered no solution to the problem other than to try cover it with something (which didn't really work). The pool, while large and nicely designed, does not really invite you to sit around and relax. This is a hotel to use as a base for visiting Taormina and little else. However, from what I saw, location and lack of soul is probably not a trait limited to this hotel in the area and so it is probably as good/bad as the competition and as such is reasonable value.

No wow factor but very satisfactory
Very nice hotel, friendly staff but no frills. Location away from the main tourist centre but within easy walking distance of all facilities. Gave you more of the flavour of real Sicily. The only downside was the breakfast buffet which was very basic and lacked imagination. I would recommend the hotel but think that families should try to stay in the main tourist centre.

Excellent building and pool, good location, very friendly staff but a wasted opportunity to be a great hotel. The service is so variable. Some mornings there was virtually no food at breakfast - not even cups! The bar was a joke - beer bottles were opened with spoons, nothing could be found, everything required a long wait while staff disappeared around the back. But we enjoyed our stay there anyway.

Arriving late on a tuesday night, with rain and ash falling and tired after a long travel the staff were very welcoming and check in swift. The superior room was lovely with a proper double bed (not two twins pushed together), four poster, big bathroom with shower all lovely and clean and also a balcony with table, chairs and two sun loungers. Only small comment would be the drainage of the shower wasn't great, but it's only one small fault. Breakfast buffet more than suitable and pool lovely. I note comments about the area, but it's great and away from the "touristy" areas with links to station and buses.

Hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff are not overly friendly but helpful enough. Breakfast was disappointing for a 4 start hotel. Some mornings many things had run out even early on into the service. The outdoor pool is very nice however, loud, annoying music is played continuously and the same music was played over and over again. The volume would go from loud to very loud at times. The type of music was not fitting for the type of guests at the hotel. The indoor pool and gym are not free, guests have to pay to use them and the hot tub was empty during our stay. It is an average hotel, other than the above, we were happy enough with our stay.

Well located multi cultural Hotel with efficient, friendly staff. Away from noisy end of the town. Great breakfasts, good pool, clean and tidy. Was a return visit. Hotel is being extended but do not know whether that will stretch the facilities and catering or whether as would appear likely it will come with its own. This is unlikely to be a factor until 2012 summer.

A lovely hotel with great facilities, a bit far out from the giardani naxos main centre, but if you are willing to walk it is perfect! Lovely pool and breakfast was delicious. 5euro a day for use of the gym which was not mentioned on the website and prices for food and drink at the pool bar were v expensive! 4 euro for a can of coke! We were charged double for a meal we had at the snack bar on departure (which we had already paid for at the time) which also put a downer on my overall stay. Overall lovely hotel,worth a visit!

Perfect base for exploring the East coast
The hotel is nice with a friendly staff. The breakfast was excellent and the room was huge and comfortable. If you intend to explore this part of Sicily by car, this hotel will make a good base. Unfortunately, the swimming pool closed a little bit too early so it was closed when we returned from our longer trips. This is not a beach hotel. However, the swimming pool is nice with a fun jacuzzi part. We would certainly return to this hotel and recommend it.

An excellent choice
We had an excellent experience at this hotel! Th estaff was very friendly as well as helpful with anything that we needed. We ate dinner in the hotel one night and it was delicious and the service was wonderful. The breakfast buffet was definitely the best breakfast I have ever had, the choices were vast and the food was very tasty! Beautiful pool/pool area. A must stay!!

Had a lovely stay here staff were extremly helpfull and always made to feel welcome.
The hotel is about a 5-10 minute drive uphill to Taormina which cost about 15-20 euro in a cab 1.50 on the local bus or the hotel runs a free shuttle a couple of times a day. Hotel was spotless the only down side that I could find was there is no tea/coffee facilties in the rooms and I wasn`t greatly impressed with the dinner time menu or food but with so many great resturants around this was never a problem! A fantistic swimming pool and a basic but good gym. I would definitely stay in this hotel again and the beach in Naxos is one if not the only sandy one that we came across! A beautiful place to visit and Yes I would definitely go back again!!

We cannot fault the cleanliness of this hotel.Most of the staff were sufficiently polite and helpful with the exception of one or two members of the restaurant staff. Dinner in the restaurant was overpriced for what it was almost like canteen food and for all the fuss they make about their restaurant the choice was minimal. Its fairly formal status did not coincide with its food. The courtesy mini bus is ideal to get to Taormina but I found the driver a bit rude, he is ok if you are italian!! I was made to pushover to accomodate a woman who had not booked her seat thus meaning we had no seat belts in the back seat. Do not be fooled that the hotel is in Taormina it is in Giardini Naxos which is tatty with barely any pavements but it is traditional Sicily and is far cheaper than Taormina with so much character. The public bus service is very good and cheap and regularly goes to Taormina and back, do not get ripped off by the taxis. The hotel is up a fairly steep hill so if you have problems with walking you may struggle. On the whole an adequate four star hotel but the area is tatty.

perfect short break hotel
I booked becasue of the many favourable reports and these were confirmed by our stay. The room was a reasonable size with a day bed for my 10 year old and a good size bathroom. The breakfast was very substantial - we didn't eat in the hotel apart from that. Pool was lovely - it was busy of course but it was peak holiday time. Mainly italians here. Free shuttle up to Taormina was very useful.

Well placed to get to Taormina - hotel runs limited bus service, but local buses are regular and cheap. Lovely pool, but often busy and little cramped at times. Reasonable choices at breakfast. Nearest beaches rocky and shingle - long walk to sandy beaches which were often dirty and crowded. Good choice of restaurants near hotel and tended to be cheaper than those in Taormina.

The pool is better than in pics and very very clean. It also has jacuzzi in there. The hotel is extremely clean and well maintained. You are in the middle to go to the pool/beach in the day (we liked both so had a pool day then beach day) then a 'wonderful' 10 min bus ride into Taormina for the evening (1.5 euro's)and the bus ride is 'special'. A lovely start to any evening, really, and I dont do bus's!! you will miss out if you go by taxi!! The continental breakfast was quite sufficient, boiled eggs, beautiful bread, cereal, fruit, ham, cheese, pastries, cake, cousants etc
