At the center of it all
The stay was pleasant, lots of international people. This place is at the center of the Gay zone. Lots of restaurants and small bars and good shopping.

Epic Fail
Check in was a problem as they did not know I was going to arrive and took over half an hour. The front desk knows very little English. This is an open hostel in that it is open to the outdoors. Whatever the temperature is outside is what the temperature is inside. I was on the 7th floor. The men's shared bathroom is on the 4th floor. The women's shared bathroom is on the 5th floor. There is one elevator that is heavily used and is hard to summon. It takes over 5 minutes to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, in the very cold outside air. For me, this was 43 degrees Fahrenheit. I will never ever do this again! The hostel is in a nice part of Mexico City and has many franchise businesses. There are two Starbucks nearby. All the popular fast food restaurants are a couple of minutes away. the hostel is on a alley or walkway to the Metro and MetroBus. The foot traffic at all times of the day is very heavy with all walks of life. The night life is active, so expect loud music until very early morning.

OK experience. Room was not ready at arrival time (3:05 PM), but after assertively requesting, given another room.

Hostal definitely worth staying in!
From the perspective that this is a Hostal: The cleanliness and upkeep is great, it is central to many shops and activities. I enjoyed staying at this location enough that I considered staying for the duration of my trip rather than switching to the large name hotel where my convention was located.

Good price
We came in at midnight on a Friday night, and we noticed that the main door to the hostel was unlocked and open. This made us uncomfortable in the bathroom knowing that anyone could just come into the hostel while we were showering. In the middle of the time someone continuously knocked on our door and was making groaning noises - probably a drunk person. We were terrified. The next night we noticed that the main door was locked and we felt much better.
