Pros: Location and character
Hotel with character and good location. Good breakfast. Needs some upkeep (painting, etc.) and updated furniture in rooms.

Incredibly helpful hotel staff! I left my computer in the room when I checked out. They retrieved it and got it back to me before my flight

Colmial house in a wonderful walkable district

Posted Jan 22, 2017
Pros: Convenience, charm, comfort.
Cons: Our room had an ugly mural--just ask for a room with no mural, they're pretty. Our bed was hard as a rock. Other than that, our stay was wonderful
Location: Lots of great eateries, cafes, shops, malls, walkable streets, parks, plazas. The neighborhood is very pretty, with lots of trees, and not loud.
The hotel itself has lots of character and charm, the rooms are pretty and have wonderful natural light because of their big windows, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the location (Colonia Roma) is very convenient. A full breakfast is included in the room fee. Nice slippers and bathrove also included. And yes, they have heat, which we used only at night when the temp goes down to the 40s from 70s in the daytime. Checking in and out was very simple and easy. Loved the french-door window that opened like a balcony on to a tree-lined side street. The water pressure in the shower was excellent.

Good location, rock hard beds

Posted Dec 15, 2016 on Orbitz
Pros: Location, Service, Food, Clean.
Cons: Rock Hard Beds prevented sleep.
Location: Great location.
This hotel is in a great location for me. The hotel staff/service are absolutely wonderful. The food is great and I really like the little garden with the dining room. The hotel and the rooms are very clean & there's always clean and hot water. Something that other hotels in Mexico City can't always offer. The only challenge I had was that the bed is like sleeping on a flat rock. It's the hardest bed I've ever tried to sleep on in my life. I wasn't able to sleep much, so with each day, I became more and more tired because of lack of sleep on the extremely hard bed. I'm not sure how a bed could be intentionally made that hard. Since sleep is important, this is only reason I don't get this hotel a high #5 rating on everything. Please, add a padded mattress cover, or replace the mattresses so they are actually soft & don't wake you up the second you move during the night.

Great Position, not so great Hotel

Posted Dec 11, 2016 on Wotif
Pros: Great position, the internet was great and the breakfast was great. Some of the staff were very nice, but not the woman we encountered at reception.
Cons: Improvements would be if a room is advertised with a number of features, that you could actually stay in that room. We weren't that lucky.
Location: Great area for shopping, wandering around, dinner, drinks
The room we had at La Casona was definitely not 4 Star, and we were quite disappointed. We had a small room on the corner of the building, first floor (one up from ground) so the noise of the traffic was constant and disturbing. It seemed to be a single room, as there was one glass, one bottle of water, one bathrobe, two towels, and a double bed with two very flat pillows. What was advertised was not provided - No pillowtop Queen bed, no premium bedding, no down duvet, no fridge/minibar, the air conditioner didn't work and the tap fell off in the shower. There was also a chocolate wrapper on the floor from the previous guests. I spoke to the lady at reception about our discontent, and she was surly and unhelpful. We went out for dinner and on our return we had been given two more pillows, a bottle of water (which we had to pay for), and, sadly, were denied the turn down service with chocolates on our pillow. However the chocolate wrapper from the previous guests was still on the floor. I don't know where the 4 Star rating came from, but it certainly wasn't the room we stayed in. The room didn't reflect our experience of Mexico City, as previous stays in other hotels have been wonderful. We were just lucky we had only booked for one night.

Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Beautifully designed. Not generic. Felt like staying in a cultural museum.

Well located former home (thereby its name "La Casona") with character and charm. Good small restaurant on premises. Hotel has 29 rooms only and thus ambiance is that of a "bread and breakfast" as opposed to a modern hotel. Smell of humidity on ground floor room made me ask for a room on the first floor. Overall, a nice place if you want to feel that you are staying at a friend's house.

This hotel is going down

Posted Sep 9, 2016 on Hotels
I was staying at this hotel 20 years ago and was fantastic at that time. Right now is abandoned and ugly i hate the place. The rate was so expensive. The hotel class is going down.
