Good experience overall, hotel on strip, within walking distance to beach and many restaurants. Nice pool, rooms are pretty nice and clean!

Roaches in the rooms

Posted May 11, 2017
Went to complain about roaches in room and another guest was at the desk also. The hotel credited me 15% but that was not acceptable. They should have given me 1 night free or all nights free!

Best Hotel in South Beach

Posted Apr 21, 2017 on Hotels
Place is absolutely amazing, the location is central to everything. Hotel also has lovely amenities. Rooms are clean and comfortable. However the service is horrible. Reception is rude and don't make guests feel comfortable. Carlos was very unpleasant, rude and uncouth. I would have rated the hotel 10/10 but because of the receptionists I would give it 7/10. I would have given a worse rating but it's unfair for the hotel owners because of the incompetence of a few employees.

Breakwater Hotel

Posted Apr 17, 2017
Pros: The room
Cons: Staff need to properly trained and supervised.
The Hotel Breakwater is on Ocean Drive, a desirable but very noisy location. Entry to the hotel lobby is difficult as it is through a busy and crowded street-side restaurant located in the front of the hotel. Although there was only one person ahead of us and several staff at the front desk, it took about ten minutes before we were informed our room would not be ready until 4 pm. It was suggested we go for a drink at the hotel restaurant, where guests receive a 20% discount on drinks, which turned out to be incorrect. Although, we were there for only the one night we were also given wrong information by hotel staff on two other occasions; once regarding the complimentary bottled water in our room and once when they ordered what they told us was a flat rate taxis to the terminal. We were also not impressed by the hotel's bar/restaurant. The drink prices were not marked beside each drink on the menu and at the bottom we saw that a large drink would cost as much as $50 after taxes and gratuities. However, after turning over the menu we saw a bottle of beer could be purchased for around $10. We were also casually told by the server we could purchase draft beer on tap for "slightly more". When we asked how much she admitted it was actually $18 plus taxes and gratuities or almost double. Based on our experience we do not recommend this hotel or its restaurant to others.

SOUTH BEACH experience

Posted Apr 5, 2017 on Hotels
Wanted to stay in South Beach. Went to hotel early am to make sure about checking in. They did not take our luggage. Came back at 5pm and had traffic everywhere. Had to pay $42 for parking in the back and then carry baggage around the block, when they could have taken it in the am. If you want a South Beach experience then I suggest it, but hotel is just OK. Pool is very small and old.

Good but disturbing

Posted Apr 3, 2017 on Hotels
The room was good. Location was great but a few maintenance items needed addressing. The disturbing part is that a hotel worker bust into our room in the middle of the night in one case and attempted another time to bring towels. It was completely disturbing and frightening.
