Pros: The rooms were modern and very clean
Cons: Employees need to be more welcoming and make customers feel appreciated. High prices and too many additional fees
Location: Location was great
I needed a hotel in the aftermath of hurricane Irma. Most hotels were full to capacity and those that weren't were charging exorbitant prices, including The Pestana. The rooms were very nice and clean, but the staff was somewhat disappointing. For the most part they were professional, but we didn't feel welcome.

We did not increase our prices in the aftermath of hurricane Irma. We even offered a flat rate of $99,00 for Florida residents which was much appreciated by numerous families. Regarding the additional fees, our page is very clear about fees and taxes and what is, and not included. We always like to advise our guests to carefully revise all the costs details at the time of the booking in order to avoid unexpected expenses. I am really sorry to hear that you didn't feel the genuine care and comfort that we provide to all of our guests. Our team is trained and expected to deliver a friendly, welcoming and professional service to all of our guests so we do apologize if some of our staff members didn't quite meet these expectations. Not worth the money, poor customer service

Hotel's location is ok. That's all I can say that was good about this place. Valet parking is poorly managed, no one greets you at the entrance or picks up your car keys. The receptionist does it all later somehow herself. Resort fee is there for towels, beach chairs and pool - which is fine, but once we arrived to the beach, we found out we had to pay additional $5 for towels because apparently we were supposed to pick them up from hotel and bring them ourselves to the beach. That's the first hotel on south beach that I know of that makes you do that and secondly no one tells you that beforehand. Then the king bed that you pay for is not actually a king sized bed. It's a king frame with two queen mattresses put together. So obviously in the middle of a night you find yourself in the hole in the middle of the bed... On Sunday housekeeping completely skips your room although we've been absent the whole day since early morning. I hardly ever leave reviews but there was too much to complain about in this case, so I wanted to take my time and warn about this place others. DO NOT WASTE your money on this place. They're much better alternatives out there.

Great Hotel and Location is Ideal

Location: A short walk to Colins avenue, restaurants and pharmacy's are very close by. Everything at your fingertips.
From the moment we arrived to the time we left; the staff at the Pestana were top notch. We were a group of 7 guys visiting Miami for a bachelor party, we kept things in line but we had a lot of fun. The boutique style and feeling of this hotel fit perfectly into what we wanted, being slightly off Colins Avenue gave us the privacy the hotel offers but the flexibility to get to the strip easily. Jorge the General Manager always made an effort to say hello and always asked if we needed anything, when it comes to hiring the right people especially for a hotel the Pestana on South Beach represents a textbook example of what to do.

Excellent Hotel, Excellent Staff

This place is great, I have booked over 500 hotel stays in the last 5 years and have to say this is one of the best. The breakfast is excellent. The hotel is clean, the staff is great and very accommodating. It is a block from the beach but the hotel has a designated spot for its guests on the beach. I Highly recommend this place.

We complained about the lights malfunctioning in our room but the staff wasn't understanding the problem and thus were not able to resolve the issue. We figured out our own fix in the end.

This hotel is fine, just seems rundown as theirs stains and wear on most things in the room. Staff was not the friendliest and only seemed to be around to yell at us about not drinking our own wine by the pool.

Pestana South Beach is a Lovely Hotel!

My husband and I had spent a week in the Florida Keys and needed to find a hotel closer to the Fort Lauderdale airport the night before we flew back home. When I did a search on Hotels.Com, the Pestana came up as being on sale. Since neither of us had ever been to Miami, we decided to give the Pestana a try. We were pleasantly surprised by this lovely hotel! We arrived at the hotel well before check in time and they gave us an early check in. The room was quiet, updated, very clean and bright. The bed was very comfortable and we had extra pillows as requested when I booked the room. The hotel is within 2 blocks of South Beach, so we were able to take a stroll on the beach in the morning before we checked out. On check out, I reviewed the bill and there was a charge of $21.00 for the bistro, which we did not make. The desk clerk quickly reversed the charge without question and gave me a corrected bill. We were very pleased with our one night stay and would happily go back again.
