I was just enjoying the view of Miami's Biscayne Bay from the beautiful Vizcaya Museum & Gardens when this colorful character came sauntering onto the scene as if he owned the place.

When we leave this port, the captain of the cruise line follows in a captain's boat while the ports captain takes the ship out of port. He was inspired by European architecture, specifically Italian villas, but also wanted to include traditional Florida history and materials in his home. The unique mix of European and Floridian design is so interesting and beautiful. As we drove through the gates, we felt as if we stepped out of Miami and into a totally different world. We were in awe that this estate sat literally a mile down the road from the renown skyline, bikinis, and bars of Miami.
It is open every day from 9:30 - 4:30 except on Tuesdays when it is closed. It is $18 dollars for adults, $10 for students, and $6 for children. It is worth every penny!
