My hotel key wouldn’t work 3 times when I came back to my room so I was scared to leave

The hotel smelt of mold and cigarette. It was a non-smoking facility but there was a stench so strong my sinus is acting up.

Surprise renovations

I’ve stayed here a number of times. The location is great. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious. However, there was no mention that there was significant work being done on the exterior of the building. There were no signs at all to indicate which, if any, entrance doors were open and there was caution tape everywhere. There should have been a mention of this in the Expedia posting and the rates should have reflected this inconvenience.

A nightmare

I’ve never had such a bad experience. Our flight arrived late, we got to the hotel around midnight. We were greeted by a woman who does the laundry overnight and does late check in. Here was no “hello”, first thing she said was “we don’t have any rooms, Expedia always books rooms that are not available, call them to resolve your problem”. So you can imagine arriving at that time and feeling helpless after being told that. I called Expedia, meantime when she saw me on the phone livid, she finally decided to call “someone “ to ask if we had any rooms, apparently there was one room that someone had vacated because they didn’t want to stay there, on the 4th floor, we were advised that the elevator was broken, she took us up to the room which was not clean and the bed was messy, I guess from someone else. We left! All I can say is that had it not been for Expedia I don’t know what we would’ve done, they booked us in another room and got us refunded with this room, Expedia has the best customer service always, at least you know if there’s an issue they do resolve it, but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Doesn’t matter that’s it’s in coral gables, it was a very bad experience in every way.

Pay a little more and stay somewhere else

Pros: The location is okay.
Cons: Change the carpeting throughout the hotel. Eliminate the odor. Fix the elevators.
We needed a last minute room for one night in a hotel that is pet-friendly. Used my expedia points and stayed for free ... but, you have to pay for parking and the pet fee. The hotel definitely has an unpleasant odor (not the other pets), of the two elevators only one was working, and when we checked out the second elevator was not working for the 7th floor (where we stayed).

Better for long stay, than short stay.

We had a one night stop only, as hotels were difficult to find in The Coral gables area at the New Year period, The amenities were good, a problem was there was no room safe.
