The main problem was the noise from the road. The first night we had to park off site since the lots were full. Otherwise the room was simple and clean. No shampoo or amenities but they did replace the hair dryer quickly. Nice beach and pool, great restaurant.

Dear Susan, We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback from your recent stay. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the convenience of our nice beach and pool, and great restaurant. As you mentioned, it can be a bit noisy if your room is facing towards the street but most of our rooms are facing towards the inside of the property and do not hear noise from the street. There is parking on site which is first come first serve and if it is full, then we also have another parking lot across the street which opens with a code that is provided at check in. Thank you for your recent stay and we hope to welcome you back soon. Karlene

Great location

Posted Mar 22, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Condition
Location: We came to spend some time on the beach,so the only trip we took was to Everglade Alligator Farm, which is about 1 hour away. We loved it!!!
It was my second time staying in this hotel and I was not disappointed. This is an older hotel and condition is not perfect but it's clean and has everything you need. Location is great: 1 min walk to the beach, restaurants and shopping in walking distance, only 13 mi from the airport, nice pool, great Italian restaurant by the pool..... Staff was helpful and nice.

Old but great location

Posted Feb 26, 2017 on Hotels
It's an order place and simply doesn't have the amenities that you find in more modern condos or hotels but if you don't plan to spend much time in the room it doesn't really matter. Something of concern was that my sister and I saw the maids going through peoples garbage to collect what they wanted from the trash.

Dear Deborah, Thank you for your comment. As you mentioned, the apartments are not modern but they offer comfort in a clean place, fully equipped kitchen, balconies (except for efficiency), air conditioning, blow dryer, free local phone calls, satellite TV, DVD player, and wifi..Regarding the maids who were going through the garbage, they were trying to find the garbage bag of a guest who threw away an item of value by mistake. These are the things that our staff is willing to do to help our guests. But I hope that you enjoyed the beach and sun, as well as our pool , gym and spa.

A nice quaint resort! The fully equipped kitchen made it pleasurable to cook. Plenty of shops and restaurants in walking distance. Very close to the beach. Nice pool and lounge area, equipped with a ping pong table which I absolutely love. The spa staff was very nice and pleasurable. Would visit again.

Slice of heaven between the high-rise developments

Posted Feb 24, 2017 on Hotels
The Golden Strand is a little slice of heaven sandwiched between two extremely tall high-rise hotel/condo buildings. The grounds are well-manicured, and the pool is fantastic - very comfortable water temperature and umbrella options to get out of the sun when you get too hot. We loved being directly on the beach - so convenient for a morning run or evening walk. The resort fee and parking fee ($20) is very reasonable compared to the other area resorts. It is disappointing that this property of over 60 years has been purchased by the huge development next door and that it will soon be bulldozed this year to erect another 40 story high-rise!

Great beach location.

Posted Feb 23, 2017
Pros: Proximity to beach.
Cons: Remodeling, update facilities.
Location: Resort is right on the beach. Every thing you might need is in walking distance. It is also on the bus line which makes it easy to get around.
Make sure you get a room facing the beach, otherwise you are looking at the street. It was a satisfactory stay if you plan to be out of the room more than in as the rooms are aged.

Horrible

Posted Jan 22, 2017
I have stayed at the Golden Strand about 5-6 times. Always loved the place, definitely not a 5 star hotel but always clean and pleasent. I have not been there since 2013 about, the room was so run down, mattress was gross and ripped, shower had no pressure whatsoever and you couldn't even control the water temperature. Sliding doors to balcony were extremely difficult to open, pool and beach accommodations were just ok ( workers in charge of cushions and umbrellas were not nice) overall disappoint and should prob call my Amex to get my money back

Dear Guest(s), Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. It is disappointing to hear that the room was not up to the standards that we have set for ourselves. I wish you would have sent a message through real-time feedback expedia or notified the front desk of these issues while you were staying at the resort. I could have changed your mattress to a brand new one, and the maintenance issues would have been fixed. We will work hard to ensure that errors such as this do not occur in the future. Thank you and we hope that you will give us another chance to prove to you that we can do better. Karlene

Clean, dated, very good area for the price

Posted Jan 19, 2017 on Hotels
Stay was not bad for the money. Golden strand is the oldest hotel in the area, I believe it was built in the 40's or 50's, babe Ruth even stayed here. However, it's very dated. I had little interaction with the staff but the ones i did talk to were nice and appeared to like there job. The room was clean, never found bugs or anything to make it seem unclean, just very old and dated looking. I've heard it's going to be tore down at the end of 2017, very sad. It's location is awesome and the property has a lot of history.
