Location is about the only redeeming factor

This was one of the oddest hotels I've ever stayed in. First, the exterior is nice( though dimly lit, we arrived at night) as is the lobby/reservations area( also dimly lit, saving on power bill I guess?). Things turned south as soon as I stepped off the elevator. Corridors leading to rooms is poorly lit( notice a theme here?), my door was painted white with paint splashes around the door frame, like it was left unfinished or something: who knows. What followed was a very small room painted in an off-white color, no curtains, no wall-art or pictures, just really drab and devoid of any style whatsoever. The bed is nice, but the phone is one of those really old dial-phones that have been out of circulation for years now. There was a yellow stain in the bathtub, just looked nasty. In place of a closet was a clothing rack.
Dissatisfied, I went downstairs and asked for a different room, because what they had given me looked NOTHING like the expedia pics. I was told that they were renovating, and to his credit the night manager( I'm assuming that's who it was) moved me to suite. It was better, much bigger, but still with an odd mix of furniture and utilities; the old school phone resurfaced, modern bed, a microwave and safe sitting on top of a generic metal framed desk. Just a really odd mix of furniture, and the same generic and dull off-white paint job. Management needs to hire an interior designer pronto, or fire the one they're currently using.
