My wife and I stayed at the Breakwater Hotel from October 22-26 for our honeymoon. We booked this 4-star hotel with the expectation of great service during our time as newlyweds. Unfortunately, what we got was subpar and I have received better service at hostels across Europe.
When we arrived on the evening of October 22nd, the front desk personnel, Stephanie, was in a phrase “all over the place.” She couldn’t keep her attention on us at the time of check in and kept asking us to repeat ourselves. As two people who have worked in the hospitality business, we know that when things get busy, it’s normal to feel flustered, but this should have been a sign to us that will reflect on the rest of our stay.
For the remainder of our stay, we were not granted simple things that guests should expect from staying at a hotel. Our room was NOT cleaned on for two out of the four nights (even with the please clean sign on our door handle the second day) and we had to wait over an hour for fresh towels both times we requested. We have stayed at large resorts and didn’t have to wait over an hour for towels to clean ourselves during our stay?
Finally, there is the health issue of our stay. Mold. In our bathroom in room, there was mold around the air vent both visible and painted over (see image attached). As someone who has asthma, that was not a great place for me or my wife to be.
In short, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND a stay here at the Breakwater Hotel.
