Roaches in the rooms

Posted May 11, 2017
Went to complain about roaches in room and another guest was at the desk also. The hotel credited me 15% but that was not acceptable. They should have given me 1 night free or all nights free!

Breakwater Hotel

Posted Apr 17, 2017
Pros: The room
Cons: Staff need to properly trained and supervised.
The Hotel Breakwater is on Ocean Drive, a desirable but very noisy location. Entry to the hotel lobby is difficult as it is through a busy and crowded street-side restaurant located in the front of the hotel. Although there was only one person ahead of us and several staff at the front desk, it took about ten minutes before we were informed our room would not be ready until 4 pm. It was suggested we go for a drink at the hotel restaurant, where guests receive a 20% discount on drinks, which turned out to be incorrect. Although, we were there for only the one night we were also given wrong information by hotel staff on two other occasions; once regarding the complimentary bottled water in our room and once when they ordered what they told us was a flat rate taxis to the terminal. We were also not impressed by the hotel's bar/restaurant. The drink prices were not marked beside each drink on the menu and at the bottom we saw that a large drink would cost as much as $50 after taxes and gratuities. However, after turning over the menu we saw a bottle of beer could be purchased for around $10. We were also casually told by the server we could purchase draft beer on tap for "slightly more". When we asked how much she admitted it was actually $18 plus taxes and gratuities or almost double. Based on our experience we do not recommend this hotel or its restaurant to others.

Close to the beach and nightlife

Posted Feb 23, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Check in process needs to be streamlined
Pleasant hotel across the street from the ocean. This is not a luxury hotel, but we had no complaints.

Not for me.

Posted Feb 19, 2017
The hotel is right on the strip and right across the street from the beach! So, that is aaesome! However, it is nestled in between an outdoor night club and a rooftop beer and hookah bar. Both of which, the music bumps til 4:30 AM, every night. So. If you are planning on partying all night long, then YES! Don't hesitate and book now! But. If you have an early morning flight to catch and plan on sleeping, even a wink, then my suggestion is the bypass this one. The breakfast wasn't exciting and the room wasn't clean. They didn't clean the back of the toilet, as there was probably a months worth of toilet paper and butt crumbs. It was NASTY. The hotel staff were ok. They did move us to another room... but it was equally as loud. We are by far no negative Nancy's, but we do like to go to sleep before 4:30am.

Great Customer Service, Awesome Location & Ambiance! I will definitely stay at Breakwater Hotel on my next visit! If you want a quiet hotel than this hotel is NOT recommended, it is right in the Middle of the Art Deco South Beach Life!!

Everything was good except the fact that one of the Valet parkers STOLE 3 bags from the mall! I came to the hotel straight from the mall and when they asked if I wanted them on the cart, I said No because im not wairing them while Im here! I never got my car until leaving, but my bags were gone!

Great hotel, good value

Posted Feb 12, 2017
Pros: Staff were exceptional, food was good. There were bicycles in the lobby to borrow, which we really enjoyed.
Cons: Booked a king room, but were given a double. No explanation or reduction in rate.
Location: Location was perfect, across the street from the beach in the heart of the art deco district, lots of dining options within walking distance.
The hotel was nice, but dated. Staff were friendly and efficient. The buffet breakfast was surprisingly good, and the coffee was better than expected. The rooms were large and comfortable. We ended up at the back of the hotel, so the view was of the alley in the rear. However, given how busy the strip was at three in the morning, this worked out for the best. The rooftop pool was small and not really useful, but the patio was nice.

Good, but ...

Posted Feb 7, 2017 on Hotels
Nice boutique type hotel, but with some drawbacks. Careful on making this choice. There's a resort fee for the health club, pool, etc. We were there for just one night, in and out, but were required to pay the fee. It came as a surprise. Also, the area (as you'd expect) is very noisy, but the hotel can be also because of entertainment next door. You don't got there for a quiet night.
