Not what we thought

Posted Nov 8, 2017
The hotel apparently is under renovation. We only discovered that once we got to the hotel. We were told this information was on the hotel website and expedia. When I went back to look I saw it stated it was under renovations but gave no detail as to what you wouldn't have access too such as the gym and that the pool wouldn't look NOTHING like their website states so as far as I'm concerned that statement was not only vague but deceiving. We were there for a family wedding and I wished staying here was very uncomfortable to say the least. The rooms are absolutely filthy and old. The carpets are dirty and looks as though they've never been shampooed, the showers appear to just be rinsed out. They are using the hotel to house hurricane victims which is understandable but at the same time people are smoking in the rooms so we were subjected to that with our toddler. The fees that are charged for parking makes no sense. This hotel shouldn't be charging the rates it is charging when the hotel is in such poor and filthy conditions. I have every intention on going back to Miami but I won't stay at this hotel. I'd rather pay a little more than to stay for over a week in a place like that. The staff was the best thing there, but other than that it's not worth the price.

We do apologize for any inconvenience. Please understand that we have notified Expedia on a number of occasions to keep them updated on our construction. All parking expenses are noted and have been communicated as well. Again, our apologies if any of this was not as transparent as it should be on the Expedia site. I really hope that you can take a moment to visit us again once we are a Hilton Garden Inn. Regards, Hotel Urbano

Nice hotel, renovations were not expected

Posted Oct 16, 2017
Nice hotel, was not expecting renovations upon arrival, staff was very friendly. Room was nice and clean. Wish that we would have known that we had to pay for valet everyday.

Construction Nightmare w/Bad attitudes & Broken Do

Posted Sep 29, 2017
Pros: The beds were very comfortable. Since there was nothing to do (pool was a plop, construction on all sides), we slept.
Cons: It was just soooo disapointing. I spent 6K points on this stay. Construction at a building next door is totally different from the WHOLE hotel. :-(
Location: Brickell City Center Mall is nice. Very high end. The CMX theatre is nice, but after the tickets and 3 snacks between 2 people, we spent $75. Meh
Arrived-the entire thing is under construction, even the entrance. All we saw at first was a hollowed out bldg with steel framing inside & construction hats & blow torches. Like something from a movie. The 2nd door (actually the breakfast room) is being used as the front door, lobby, check-in desk, & breakfast area. I'll tell you so you don't have to read this whole thing - the young man said construction won't finish until late 2018 (which probably means mid 2019). The front desk lady, Katrine was very rude until we sat in the lobby for an hour (our early check-in (Silver+ and we called twice the week before) was not ready). She lightened up after about 10 minutes. But why be rude for no reason? The newly installed doors are meant to be automatic (like motion sensor), but they don't work, so you have to open manually. Floor is plywood & if you want to roll anything, someone has to run & insert a connector piece that is kept outside to allow the doors to open & close. The bedroom - upgrade went from a city view to a pool view. You have to be kidding... construction on every side. It not only sounded like, but felt like they were jackhammering in the wall next to us. NOT a plus. Carpet was soaking wet from fridge leaking - found out when I was in my socks. They were going to send plummer. For what? It's a fridge. Long tangles of hair in bed & on towels. Housekeeping brought us pillowcases & attempted to wash the desk. Ants all over desk.Vend Machine food tragically stale.

The complete hotel is under renovation

Posted Sep 28, 2017
I have stay in hotels under construction before and its supposed to be a little bit noisy. This was not the case, the complete thing was being remodelated and there was no bar, the breakfast was next to the lobby with nothing good to offer for being considered a "VIP" hotel. The chair in my room was broken, and got stuck in the elevator. #NuffSaid

Nice, Small Hotel Vibe

Posted Sep 5, 2017
Pros: Staff
Cons: Rooms could be a bit cleaner.
Location: Very close to the bridge to KEy West.
The staff was all very accommodating and helpful, especially the parking attendants and the front desk clerks. The hotel was undergoing construction, which was annoying but we were very aware it was going on and prices were adjusted because of it. The room was fine. I didn't love the shared bathroom/closet door. It was clean, but not sparkling clean. One night, we had an issue with other guests being very noisy by the pool until late at night. We felt the staff should have handled it better. When we complained, we got a discount on the parking fee. We thought $30 per night for parking was a bit pricey but were told most hotels in the Miami area charge this. The hotel is changing to a Hilton, which will take away its small hotel vibe, but would stay again.

Beautiful room

Posted Sep 2, 2017
The only downside is this is a noisy hotel. Probably because of the hardwood floors, I could hear everything going on around the room. Also, my room was right on the state street side, so I heard cars going by most of the night, but it did quiet down as time went by. The room was gorgeous, the bathroom was nice (though the Jacuzzi tub needs to be reset to turn off the jets once you turn them on) and it made a great place to stay for our wedding night.

Disappointing

Posted Aug 28, 2017
Very deceiving with how this hotel is presented online versus what you actually get when you stay there. Hotel is under MASSIVE construction that makes every little thing a huge inconvinence. You think that the customer service should make up for it but the employees were rude and inattentive.
