Beware of all hotel charges!

Posted May 27, 2017
Pros: The staff was great.
Cons: Add blackout curtains in rooms.
Location: There is a shopping mall within walking distance.
$76 per day of additional charges for staying at the hotel. There is a resort fee ($30) and the hotel parking your vehicle at a offsite location ($46) (which is the only option). While the resort fee gives you two lounges with towels on the beach it does not include a parasol ($19). No soda or snack machines in hotel. Each room has a box of overpriced snacks and a packed refrigerator. Example: Oversized Snickers bar for either $8 or $9. Refrigerator is full of stuff at triple normal prices so there is limited space for use. No blackout curtains so you wake up with the sun. In the last two months I have stayed in five hotels. This was the only hotel without blackout curtains. While breakfast in the hotel was ok it was $20 per person. Alcoholic drinks by the pool are over $15. Due to the location you are limited in your restaurant options for how much to spend on food. This may be normal for South Miami Beach so expect to spend money for extras.

Hi David, Thank you so much for sending us your feedback! I am glad to hear that our team was great, but I am sorry to hear that the pricing was a bit high. We always keep an eye out for our pricing so we are still competitive with the other hotels on the beach, but I'm sorry if it seemed high. Hopefully we see you back in SoBe soon!

Wonderful boutique hotel right on Collins in the heart of Miami Beach and great beach access across the main path along with the other hotels on Collins.

Great location everything else was ok

Posted May 1, 2017
Pros: great location and outdoor pool
Cons: Cleanliness, rooms and hallways need to be renovated
Location: access to everything you could do in south Beach
The location of the hotel was great! The Surfcomber is a beach front hotel centrally located on Collins Avenue, but I had high expectations considering it is a Kimpton property. I have stayed at other Kimpton hotels prior, such as Hotel Monaco in Philadelphia and the Argonaut in San Francisco and loved them both. Our room at the Surfcomber was disappointing, very tiny and the air conditioner leaked from the ceiling in the hallway onto the carpet creating a damp smell the entire stay. The hallways were always dark with non existent lighting and the bathroom tub was not cleaned properly...additionally the cleaning service never showed up to service our room till much later in the day (around 5pm) all 3 days of our stay. I would say the hotel's greatest attributes are the swimming pool and the access to the beach. If you are looking for a cleaner more comfortable stay, I would honestly skip this hotel and spend a few extra dollars on one of the other hotels on the beach.

Dear Lauren, Thank you so much for sending us your feedback, we read them all and we appreciate hearing on ways that we can improve. And it sounds like we have some improving to do! While the art deco area is beautiful, it does make our style to be a little bit more cramped then other properties. But the are sure is beautiful! And I am sorry to hear about the inconsistencies in housekeeping service, that's not our standard and I am so sorry that it happened to you during your stay! Please feel free to keep my contact information if you make it back to SoBe, I'd love another chance to really wow you at the Surfcomber!

Great location. Rooms needs some upgrading!

Posted Apr 28, 2017
Room definitely need upgrade and better look! Christina and Patrick were a highlight working the beach! Much better than staff day before. Door staff could be more efficient and on it. Just a few extra touches would make this place shine!

very stingy very cheap, bad service

Posted Apr 26, 2017
Pros: The only good thing worth about the Hotel is the location, by the beach and close to amenities.
I was extremely disappointed with this hotel, very stingy very cheap, bad service. We booked 2 rooms for 5 nights and it included 'continental breakfast'. At the moment of checking in told us breakfast was only for one day.. after arguing back and forth and having to show the reservation then they agreed to give us breakfast for the full 5 days. 1st hurdle over, in the morning we go for breakfast, turns out their continental breakfast its just a piece of toast with coffee. no eggs, no bacon, you are lucky if you get milk in your coffee (I asked for a little more milk for mine and the waitress was complaining saying it didnt include it). Guys very simple - if you dont want to offer breakfast - just dont at all. Im happy to research hotels that include a good breakfast but this is misleading to the consumer. Our A/C was leaking we called room service for them to fix it, they left a note saying technitians had come to fix and it was continuing to leak. Unpleasant mold smell. The hotel is in true need of renovation the carpets are stained the elevator extremely small and old. (only 6 people at a time). I had previously stayed at a kimpton in LA they gave you bottled water in the evening for the night to take to your room/ they also had cocktail hour where they gave away free wine and little bites to eat. - DO NOT EXPECT THIS FROM HERE!! like I said they are very cheap and very stingy. we only had breakfast once because it truly was horrible so we had to throw the other cards

Thank you so much for your feedback, not everyone does and we appreciate hearing on ways we can step it up to improve! I am sorry to hear that your stay didn't go well and it sounds like there was some miscommunication on our part. Our Social Club restaurant is listed as one of the top on the beach- I am sorry to hear that you missed out on it because we didn't mention that you could use your continental breakfast as a credit towards a full breakfast! Sadly, certain breakfast packages only include the continental breakfast, and some of them are only for 1 day. Also, we do have wine hour everyday from 4pm-5pm in our lobby with snacks, as well as fresh infused water available right next to the front desk. We hope you make it back to SoBe to enjoy your next visit.

Close to beach

My husband & I selected this hotel for its location in South Beach. A good Location is the best I can say about this property. Our room was very small, bathroom tiny, ladies room near pool filthy & unattended to... We will not return.... at $340 per night not a good value for what you get

Hi Catherine, Thank you so much for sending us your feedback, not everyone does and we appreciate hearing back on ways we need to kick it up to improve. We are definitely following up with our team in regards to your comments about the pool restrooms- that isn't our normal service and I apologize to hear it wasn't up to our standard by any means. And you are right about our location, it sure is amazing with the beautiful Art Deco style.. but what comes with the style, also comes the Deco reality of being a little snug. Everyone wants room on this beach that our rooms are a little on the small size. We hope you make it back to SoBe soon, even if it isn't with us, maybe you can check out our amazing Kimpton Angler's & EPIC. Safe travels!

Too adorable for words! Perfect.

Posted Apr 6, 2017
Perfect little boutique hotel. Location 1 block from Lincoln road and tonnes of great restaurants. 5 min to Ocean. Close but just far enough for from the storm. Free wine and great quality happy hours daily. Small rooms but did the trick. It had a South Beach feel with perfect amount of luxury, dash of kitsch, great service. In my opinion, better stay than any of the larger hotel chains at similar price. Only downside was the bikes were all in the shop getting fixed. Though there were Citibikes 1 block away they are little costly. Considering you pay $34 resort fee daily they should have compensated somehow or fixed half their bikes at a time. But small issue compared to an overall enjoyable trip!!

Thank you so much for sending us your feedback- we really appreciate hearing what our guests have to say and I am SO happy to hear that you find us adorable :) Not to brag- but Kimpton hotels pioneered the concept of boutique hotels in the United States, so we are happy to hear we are keeping it up! We hope to see you back at the Surfcomber soon- and I am sure we will have our bikes back and ready to go then. Until then, safe travels
