Charge you without telling you

Posted Jan 12, 2017
They charge you an extra $50 "hotel fee" without telling you. The hallways are almost pitch black and feels like a movie theater. Wouldn't recommend.

Perfect hotel in Miami Beach

Posted Jan 5, 2017
My husband stayed in the Surfcomber in Dec 2016 in the courtyard king room and found it to be spacious enough for the both of us, contrary to what other reviews stated. Super comfortable bed and amazing pool! Very conveniently located to beach, Lincoln Road, and restaurants. We never had a problem finding a chair by the pool or beach, and the staff by the pool and front desk was super friendly and always willing to help. The food by the pool was also very delicious, esp the sliders and yucca fries! Drinks were a little weak and sugary for the price, but if you stick to beer you will be ok. The hotel has complimentary wine at happy hr (the red and white wines were good, but the sangria was too sweet...not a problem as we just added another cup of red wine to our sangria). Our room was also super quiet at night so we were able to get a very good night's sleep. We loved this hotel and will definitely be back the next time we are in Miami. We have already raved about the Surfcomber to our friend's and family back home. Thank you for an amazing vacation!

Nice grounds. Amazing pool with beach nearby.

The room was very small and the hallways dark. The grounds were gorgeous and pool staff so friendly.

artsy retreat

Pros: See my comments above.... smell, lobby , pool, ping pong on the beach, infused water, proximity to South Beach dining and people watching
Cons: I can't think of anything
Location: It is located very close to dining options. We were also close to both the airport and Port of Miami for our cruise.
This was our 2nd experience staying at a Kimpton and the Miami surfcomber far exceeded our satisfaction of staying in the one in Chicago! I'm an interior designer and when I travel, I like to stay in unique funky hotels. I will start with the smell. It is like walking into a spa - rejuvinating and fresh - and top secret I guess. I asked the concierge and she told me it's the signature "kimpton scent " via diffuser and they don't divulge the name or sell it . :( The lobby was even better in person than on their website with a very ecclectic and interesting mix of fabrics and materials. The infused water was everywhere with various fruits and the coffee and tea in the morning is a tasteful touch. The kids loved the pool and the running path along the beach is fantastic. Not everyone would appreciate the artistic cows and sheep placed strategicaly everywhere or the interestisng cabana massage huts but I noticed every detail. It helps that it's in a tropical setting with orchids growing out of the palm trees. The fact that the beds are comfortable is just a perk. The only thing a few family members grumbled about was the size of the bathrooms but my kids loved the doorless open contemporary showers. We will definitely search out other Kimptons in future stays and oddly enough, I am so inspired ! PS Just ask my kids how many hours I spent researching the lotion they provide ( kadota fig ). I finally found some and am enjoying it immensely!

Great location close to beach and Lincoln Road. Good happy hours with free wine and cheap drinks at the backyard bar. The rooms are a bit small, especially the bathroom. The cleaning staff needs to do a better job at finding time to clean the rooms.

Nice hotel close to mostly everything

Posted Dec 9, 2016
The hotel location was in the center of most of what we did (beach/shops/restaurants). The staff was nice. The bathroom had a rust stain on wall and floor. Also the room was comfy but seemed a little old. Plus no free wifi- you have to pay with the resort fee.

Thank you for your recent stay and taking the time to give us your feedback. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your over all stay however in regards to room size you’re correct in that our rooms are small. While we do have the honor of being on the National Historical Building Registry, with that honor comes the reality of code restrictions…womp womp. However, the Anglers is currently undergoing extensive reservations and additionally is an all-suite hotel. And it just so happens that I have a hookup! So next time you’d like to stay there, please drop me an email and let me know.

Don't like that if you felt you had a "fully paid" stay through Expedia, you are still charged 27 dollars a day (plus tax)

Thank you for sending us your feedback – we really appreciate it! I’m glad you enjoyed your overall stay! I did want to apologize if the resort fee came as a surprise. However, cost of resort fee should be noted on your reservation. Unfortunately the resort fee is an on property charge hence the reason why it was not added to your room rate that is paid directly to expedia. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Great location

The staff was friendly and were super helpful. They were genuine in making sure we had a great stay. The pool guys were awesome too! We had lunch at the restaurant which was really good. The hotel offered an hour of free wine which we took advantage of, nothing to complain about and would stay there again. Drinks are pricy but that's south beach I guess.

We had a great stay at Kimpton. Just the right relaxing vibe. Staff and service were great! Just a heads up, while two beach chairs are complimentary with your room, you will have to pay extra for an umbrella.
