I enjoyed my stay at The Marlin for the most part. I was put off by the fact that the front door was locked all day long and that you needed your room key card to open it when you wanted to come in. The concierge said it was for "safety", but as a single woman, I never felt unsafe either at the hotel or in the streets surrounding it. It felt like 'code' for "protecting you from the homeless Black and Brown men in the area".
My room was quite clean; however, it was so small that although I had come to SOBE to relax and nap, I felt compelled to get out of my room so that I could have space. While there is much to see (& critique) in the area, I didn't want to have be out and about--I wanted to rest and lounge in my room when I wanted.
Last concern was the room was not soundproofed. While I didn't complain about it, because I know some poor sod was just doing his job, I kept hearing someone working and it sounded as if they were going to bang through my ceiling at times during the day.
