While attending a friend's wedding at Bill Braggs State Park on Key Biscayne, we were actually rerouted to a different part of the park at the last minute. The detour wasn't a total loss--we got to see this incredible sunset reflected off of the lighthouse. #beach #nationalpark #goldenhour We decided to spend the day taking photos, hiking, and enjoying an absolutely gorgeous day in one of Florida's remote state parks. Located just 20 minutes away from Coral Gables and Downtown Miami, this park is easily accessible off the Rickenbacker causeway. You have to pay to enter the actual park, but it's very much worth it if you plan on staying for the day. If you want to splurge, you should eat dinner at The Rusty Pelican, which is at the entrance to Key Biscayne, just 10 minutes away from the park. Enjoy a nice sunset overlooking the Miami skyline.#localgem #beach #nationalpark #waterlust #blue #beachbound Cape Florida State Park is just south of Miami and is worth a visit. It has great views over The Cape Florida Light is a lighthouse on Cape Florida at the south end of Key Biscayne in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Constructed in 1825, it guided mariners off the Florida Reef, which starts near Key Biscayne and extends southward a few miles offshore of the Florida Keys. It was operated by staff, with interruptions, until 1878, when it was replaced by the Fowey Rocks lighthouse. The lighthouse was put back into use in 1978 by the U.S. Coast Guard to mark the Florida Channel, the deepest natural channel into Biscayne Bay. They decommissioned it in 1990. Within the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park since 1966, the lighthouse was relit in 1996. The beach is open to the public and is beautiful place to relax and spend the day by the ocean. My fav picture . January 2015 A lot to see here had a great afternoon. Lighthouse by the beach The lighthouse in Key Biscayne, Miami Bill Baggs State park is located at the southern most point of Key Biscayne Florida. The park opens a bit after sunrise and closes before sunset. Because of this I was not able to get the night shots I was wanted to. In order to get this shot I relied on a ten stop ND filter. If you decide to visit, I recommend going on weekdays and avoid holidays. The beach is visited by locals heavily during these times. The park is very well kept and there is a good chance you will be capturing some nice shots. Sweet drink decor! Stumbled upon this lovely little park where we saw an unexpected beautiful sunset. Florida , miami Spend the day at Key Biscayne's Bill Baggs State Park and make sure you climb to the top of the Cape Florida Lighthouse. The views from the top are amazing. I have to say I was little disappointed in this place. For whatever reason I thought it was going to be like an aquarium but it's more of a showboat place for aquatic animals. I feel a little bad that the animals have to do shows and demonstrations through-out the day for guests. That being said, it looks like the trainers really do care for the animals and take great care of them. And it is a good place to learn about major aquatic animals. Good for younger children. Nice family beach cottage, for the family, quiet place to spend quality family time. One of the houses left at Stiltsville in Miami.
