Great value in chaoyang

Posted Sep 8, 2017
It's an older building but well maintained. Rooms are large. Service is great. Connected to a mall that has small grocery store on basement level and Starbucks on main level.

Family friendly

Posted Aug 17, 2017
The hotel has great places for kids to play. And it's interconnected with 3 other Shangri-la hotels and numerous office buildings. So no matter how the outside environment is, you always has some fun entertainment and yummy eating choices in the complex.

Incompetent service at The Horizon

Posted May 26, 2017 on Hotels
We had an important business dinner at The Horizon Chinese restaurant, where we booked a room and very often, there was no one in the room to serve us. We were constantly ignored and disregarded by the waiting staff. There were also no tea refills as the staff can't be asked or bother to make a minimal effort; we therefore had to constantly help ourselves with the tea while they keep taking the teapot away every time they came in. In terms of the food, they disregarded the arrangements for the timing of food being served. Their failure to comply caused us a lot of embarrassment and frustration as they keep sending food back to the kitchen. Eventually, they served us with reheated food, which were all over cooked. In particular, half of the the coconuts of the chicken soup in coconuts ordered were very old and inedible. The food and service of the restaurant was not as expected at all.

Terrible food and offer misrepresentation

Posted May 26, 2017 on Hotels
The food experience at Kerry's Kitchen was absolutely terrible. Their food and especially the Hainanese chicken rice was the worst I've ever had in my life. The chicken was over cooked so it was very tough, where the rice was literally soaked in oil. It came along with an extremely salty msg soup. Moreover, their so called offers on the menu is a complete misrepresentation, where the staff argued and lied about their pricing despite having a giant advertisement board placed in front of the restaurant. This is hospitality at its worst when the staff were atrociously rude and accusative to the guest. Despite the comfort and cleanliness of the rooms, this single experience of poor attitudes and bad food has given this stay a one star rating. Very disappointing as they lie and argue about the pricing. Travellers beware.

Excellent place to rest in busy city.

Posted Apr 15, 2017 on Hotels
This is a wonderful business hotel. The room was large, quiet, and very clean. The staff were brilliant. The food was very good, with Western and Asian choices. It is a five to ten minute walk to the Metro and the Silk Market, but walk with Chinese people, as cars will run lights and hit you in the crosswalks (in all of China). The hotel desk staff are very helpful. The deli is quite good and the bakery is excellent. There is a Tesco mini-store in the basement level of the attached mall. The room has fridge, but no microwave.

Many less expensive option...but it is dang nice

Posted Apr 14, 2017
Pros: One of the best I've stayed at in Beijing.
Cons: Perfect business hotel...
Location: Chaoyang is the center of so much. There is a Starbucks just off the property, about a minute walk. So that rocked.
Checked in for a conference being held in the hotel...everything is really clean, new feeling and spacious...got a ton of work done while chatting with other attendees in the lobby, bars and seating areas. Productive location overall...
