Nice Hotel close to Airport

Posted Jan 26, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: N/A
Location: Very good diner down the road from the hotel
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg East on January 13th and January 19th, 2017 for our trip to Mexico. We stayed the night before we flew out and the night that we returned. This was the first time we stayed here and we were very pleased with this hotel. The staff was very friendly. We ate our dinner at the hotel restaurant and had a very nice waitress. We thought the food was very good. They also shuttled us to and from the airport. We had a very long day when we returned. We called the hotel when we got into the airport and they told us they would have someone come over and pick us up. To our surprise if was our waitress from the restaurant. She was so kind (Janell) We had not eaten anything all day so we were pretty hungry. She went out of her way and stopped at a Sheetz for us (this was at midnight) Needless to say she really helped us out. The next time we fly out of Harrisburg Airport we will be staying at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg East. We can not say enough. Also the

You get what you pay for

Posted Jan 18, 2017
Pros: Price was inexpensive, close drive to attractions.
Cons: Please fix the carpet on the corridor on the 4th floor, it's a tripping hazzard.
Location: Indian Echo cavern, Hershey Park, Chocolate World.
We stayed in this hotel for Labor Day weekend, so we were near Hershey Park and Indian Echo caverns. The room was dirty is several ways: 1) the bathroom ceiling needs to be cleaned, there was mildew on the ceiling. 2)The carpet was not vacuum thoroughly; there was a piece of half eaten pepperoni slice on the floor next to the bed. 3) I did a check of the beds, as all this talk of bedbugs. I am glad to report I did not find any bedbugs in our room. But I noticed the sheets were dirty, there were hairs on the white sheets which should be clean. 4) The air conditioner did not cool properly, it had to be set to 69 just to cool the room, which took several hours.

Nice hotel convenient to airport

Posted Nov 28, 2016
Pros: Location, friendliness of the staff, available amenities
Cons: There was an awfully strong chemical smell in the 6th floor hallways. Like very strong carpet disinfectant. It smelled very weird.
I received a courteous and prompt welcome on arrival at 6 pm Tuesday night before Thanksgiving. The guests seemed a mix of families travelling for the holiday. Free hotel shuttle to the airport the next morning.

Average room but would not stay there again. I sent a review about the swimming pool being dirty with film on the top and ice cold and received a reply from the manager saying they keep it sparkly clear and warm daily. I felt like she was telling me I was lying which is not the case . My husband would not even get in and we could not allow our four-year-old to get in this is a big deal when you specifically book a Hotel that has a pool

Thank you for your views and comments! We strive to "WoW" every guest with our new hotel and unfortunately we came up short for you on your visit. We just opened our new pool area with a brand new pump, heater, and dehumidifier that has our pool looking amazing. We hope that when you return in the very near future, maybe when the snow is a foot high outside, you will be one of our guests who will be enjoying the "Summer Time" in Middletown poolside at our hotel. Thank you for choosing us and we look forward to having the chance to "WoW" you on your next visit.

Convenient location - friendly staff

Posted Sep 9, 2016 on Orbitz
Pros: Easy to get to and convenient location.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Approximately 20 minutes from Hershey Park, Hershey, PA.
We traveled a long distance and they were very accommodating to our late arrival - even offered a late check out. We had an early schedule and was unable to accept the offer. The room was nice but there was a terrible smell when I stepped out of the elevator. We were there such a short time I did not bother to report it to the staff. Overall the experience was good. Clean room and friendly staff.

Would definitely recommend

Posted Sep 7, 2016 on Hotels
The hotel was good overall. I chose the hotel due to proximity to family and because it had a gym, pool, and restaurant/bar onsite. The room (double queen) was nice although it would have been crowded with more than one or two people. The staff was friendly and helpful. The workout facilities were a bit small and very hot and humid as it is adjacent to the pool (no fans and no ability to adjust the thermostat and it was definitely hotter in there than what the thermostat stated). I took advantage of the free 24-hour coffee, tea and water and very much appreciated it. Being able to order room service was definitely a plus. Not much to the immediate surrounding area, but plenty of things within 5-10 minute drive. Also, the rooms seem pretty well insulated. I only heard the screaming baby in the next room when I walked out into the hall. Never heard it while in my room. Also, wasn't bothered by noise from the room above me, which I often experience on stays at hotels. I only have two real complaints. First, the room did not have a microwave despite the brochure stating each room at a mini fridge and microwave. Second, the emergency alarm inadvertently (and inexplicably) sounded shortly after midnight on Saturday and Sunday night of my stay.

Thank you for choosing our hotel and allowing us to "WoW" you! Our brand new hotel has so many amenities to offer in addition to all the wonderful things you mentioned. We have a new heated indoor pool, we have an omelet station in the restaurant now. The list just goes on and on. Thank you so much again for choosing us and we look forward to having you visit us again.

Be aware of the weird rule of kid breakfast

Posted Sep 6, 2016
Cons: Staff need to be friendly. Their wired rule of breakfast need to be made clear at the time of booking.
Location: Hershey Park.
The room is ok. But after we went to sleep, someone pull the fire alarm or something. The alarm sounds for a few seconds and then went away. It didn't last long but enough to wake us up. Also after some time, there're some people talking in the hall way loud. It sounds like some people drink a lot. The staff is not friendly. We booked the room with breakfast included. Then when we went there for breakfast, the lady told us kids can only order from the menu otherwise they need to pay. OK then I ordered 3 items from the menu. I told her that's for each kid. But when another lady brought what we ordered, she told me there're were two items out the of 3 that each kid can only choose one. But when don't the lady tell me at the time of order? I don't understand why any place need to make it so complicated for a kid breakfast. I travels a quite often and I have to tell you this is a wired place. How much money are they trying to make from the kid breakfast?

Thank you for taking the time to bring this situation to light. We have a long profound history of kids stay free and eat free that has been the foundation of our brand. Kemmons Wilson, our founder, entrepreneur, and enthusiast for life, is best known for creating the hotel chain, Holiday Inn. After he and his wife Dorothy spent a summer vacation in 1951 driving out to Washington, D.C. where they experienced inconsistent accommodations and were charged for each of their five children to stay in the room with them, Kemmons came home determined. He vowed to create a chain of hotels with standards like ice machines, on-site dining, swimming pools and all kids would stay and eat for free. He wanted a chain that would encourage families to vacation together. Family was most important to the two of them. Almost exactly a year after the infamous vacation, Kemmons established the first Holiday Inn on Summer Avenue on August 1, 1952 in Memphis, TN. We find these standards at ALL Holiday Inns around the world. For every paying adult a kids meal is free. We strive to "WoW" our guests and we currently have a NEW Chef, so we intend to continue to live up to Kemmons Wilson standard of family values. We look forward to providing your family with our "WoW" service in the near future.
