Would not recommend.
The hotel is VERY dated and in need of updating. Dirty carpets, broken screens, overall very scary. Located just off the highway and not close to any restaurants.

This property is no longer a Best Western. The desk clerk was very kind but the room was unsatisfactory. Carpet dirty and wrinkled, toilet did not work properly and was af ceiling in poor condition. We drove 3 hrs home rather than stay

The mattress was horrible! Neither of us slept. The hotel had no extra pillows and the ones on the bed were very small squares and just not at all supportive! Bathroom is very old and the tub had rust on it! Not at all satisfied with this particular Best Western in Midland MI. We frequently use other best western properties so I’m really surprised this one has their name.

Nice quiet and clean room. The common areas were a bit dirty and the breakfast was disappointing. The kiddie pool, arcade, and sauna were not open unfortunately.

Parking area looked deserted, I thought they were closed. Check-in was ok, but when I came back with a problem (poor ac ) the night manager was rather hostile. The rooms looked very nice with the brick walls, but like the hallways , there seemed to be an odor of stale cigarette smoke. Perhaps, the odor was absobed by the bricks over time.

The pictures make this hotel look pretty good! Don't be fooled. My husband and I stayed recently and agreed if the management were different this place could be great. The staff seemed annoyed we were there. There was a food wrapper on the floor in our room. The tub wouldn't drain properly, and the carpet felt moist. The breakfast was limited because of low staff due to COVID, which is understandable. However, we felt like we were on a scavenger hunt to find everything. There was no rhyme or reason as to where food was placed and it was hard to find anything. We were so happy when we left that we didn't have to go back. Spend the extra money and stay closer to downtown Midland!

Near where we wanted to stay - Valley Plaza. also wanted swimming pool. Elevator didn't work one evening. No one at desk when we needed more shampoo & washcloths. staff brought them up, but the washcloths were stained & dirty looking. Ick!

We checked into our hotel Best Western Valley Plaza Inn, on 6/24 without knowing the hotel did NOT have hot water. We called the front desk the next morning and they said, “they didn’t know when it would be fixed”. We were supposed to stay there again on 6/28 but, I asked, if they had hot water and 25 minutes later the General Manager comes out and say, “No it is not fixed yet”. So, we did not stay that night.

This location has gone to the potty. I’ve traveled here for 26 years and this is the worst. The bathroom was dirty. No staff for breakfast. Pool was closed even after I contacted and it was confirmed open prior to booking. Bathroom full of bugs. We were told that there was nothing that could be done. No management to handle issues.

Smelled like musty water. Room smelled even worse. Faucet in bath leaked badly. Booked a king but were told a king was not available and were given 2 queen beds.

Desk people at check-in and check out obviously did not care about their jobs. Toilet barely flushed. No outlet for coffee maker had to set it on the floor. Extremely loud rude people in rooms on both sides. I used to work in a hotel. This is an extremely poor experience.

The moment that you walked into the lobby you could smell mold and mildew. We had family coming in from various states for a memorial and did not have the time to look other accommodations or we would have, the following morning we all felt ill. The hotel is very dark and dingy and the photos on line do not reflect this property.

The bathroom was not cleaned properly. The sink & tub wouldn’t drain even after notifying the front desk. Nobody ever came to check it. Had to search for staff multiple times. The phone in the room didn’t work the first day. Musty smell in the room. Bed was extremely uncomfortable. Pillows were awful. Breakfast was a joke- granola bar, yogurt, applesauce, & bottle of water in a paper bag.

The bathroom sink backed up so bad we had to bail it into the toilet for the two days we were here. The bathroom fan did not work. When we reported these, we were simply told a maintenance person was not on duty. The rooms and hallways are very dark. They reminded us of the rooms we stayed in several decades ago when we were first married and couldn't afford better hotels. It would be nice if Michigan would start allowing breakfast to be served again. The bag breakfast is pathetic. The coffee in the lobby on the second day was too weak to drink. By the way, we had just stayed in a Best Western in Nebraska two weekends before our stay in Midland and they served an amazing breakfast.

The hotel could use some upgrades...sauna didnt work the pools were dirty..the staff was non existant there were bad kids unattended in the pool/hot tub area maokng it difficult for other guest to enjoy. No brekafast at all when the website states thay offered grab n go during covid.

Ramona, I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. I am not sure exactly what children was giving you a difficult time in the pool area, we do offer adult only swim from 10pm to 11pm daily. I can assure you that Grab and Go's were available during your stay at the front desk, just required you to ask for them. The Sauna does work and did work during your stay if you turn the timer on. If you was having a difficult time the front desk could of assisted with that. If they was away from the desk it would of been due to doing walk throughs of the hotel for guest safety and/or getting another guest something they requested. We hope that in the future you will give us another chance to meet your expectations.

The stay was terrible.... it was only 6 cars total in the parking lot. No Guest. Nothing was open but the pool. The bathroom didn't look inviting at all. Broken soap dish, dingy tub and towels. Old rugs, curtains and furniture. Just not a 2 star hotel. Their website should've stated they just reopened and they actually should've gave cheaper rates for their rooms. Location is also terrible... not close to anything. Just not a good vacation spot. We checked out the very next day.

We would like to extend our apologies to you at this time that you did not enjoy your stay in our hotel. Due to COVID our game room and exercise room is closed down due to recommendations of our local health department, unfortunately that is not something we are able to control. Both of our pools and hot tub were all open with max of 20 people allowed into the pool room at a time. There is a restaurant, bowling alley, laser tag, bumper cars and more all located within one block of our location. The room you stayed in was repainted during our closer due to being slow because of COVID. There are a lot of people not traveling in our area currently due to the worlds current situation. We would again like to extend our apologies to you that you thought we was too slow, and would hope that you would reconsider and give our Hotel another chance to return again.

From the time we arrived it was a nightmare, I had used my debit to secure the room it wasn’t supposed to be charged, they put everything in my debit card I said I’m paying with cash. Then they still put a pending payment for incidentals on my debit card. I had other card to use, he said it would be put back on my card next day. The key card wouldn’t work to let me in the building, had to walk around and find open door propped by a rock to get in. Sometimes wouldn’t let me in room. Pool light didn’t work, they worked on them around 45 minutes before they came on. BREAKFAST WAS A JOKE !!!!! A small paper bag with 8 oz water, small cup apple sauce and a granola bar. My daughters room wasn’t ready. The morning we were leaving the lady in the next room screamed, they had checked a male guest into her room while she was still asleep. WORST PLACE EVER !!!!!’ DONT recommend this over priced nightmare. And the day we checked out the manager said sorry he should not have charged your debit card with out your consent but it will be 8-10 business days for it to go back on your card. UNACCEPTABLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL

We here at Best Western Valley Plaza extend our apologies to this guest, I am the Asst. General Manager that spoke with her on the day she checked out I took the time to explain to her that when A Guest checks into the Hotel with a Third Party Booking we swipe the credit card for incidentals which does place a hold on the credit card for the amount of the stay of a night and will be released upon check out by us as long as there is no damage to the room and then it is up to their financial insinuation to decide when the release is dropped on their end normally no more then 10 days. Our grab and go bags go by Best Western Standard of what is provided as our local health department will not allow us to open our breakfast area at this time due to COVID. The Pool light during their time here was turned on once it was requested as we normally switch it on once it turns dusk outside they requested it to be turned on a little sooner then we normally turn it on. We allowed the guest to check in early to her room with the understanding check in is normally after 3 and the other room would be ready by that time. Again we extend our apologies that they feel this way and there are no guests we want to feel this way. We hope they would reconsider and give us another chance.

The Best Western was clean and well kept. Our room was a 2 queen and NOT cramped at all, very roomy! Front desk staff super friendly and helpful!
