You can not beat the price for this location.

Pros: Location.
Cons: This thin walls.
Location: Steps from the Empire State Building.
You can not beat the price for this location. Steps from the Empire State Building, this is a great hotel if you are on a budget. Pretty nice... for this type of lodging. The rooms are set up like a 2-3 bedroom apartment. So you share a kitchen and a bathroom with 2-3 other rooms. But the rooms, the kitchen, and the bathroom were nice and relatively new. It was a little noisy being right on 5th Avenue (and the walls are a bit thin), but this is NYC.

Americana Inn--for young traveler on tight budget

Posted Jan 24, 2012 on Hotels
Hotel staff were professional, friendly, helpful. Room with two twin beds was small, much like an unadorned college dorm. There is little soundproofing, so street, hall, and bathroom noise are loud. Room and bathrooms are clean. Many good restaurants are within a couple blocks.

Being in the middle of the city, and sleeping in a clean place were all I was looking for and those expectations were met perfectly. We initially hesitated to use the shared bathroom and to take showers. After seeing it, we felt as though we were the first people who are going to use it. It was very clean, bathtub was shining. The room had wooden floors and I think it was much cleaner than many 4 star hotels that are normally carpeted. I normally have allergy attacks in hotels, I slept very well without any problem.

Pretty Good for a Night's Stay

Posted Jan 13, 2012 on Hotels
The location is great because it's within walking distance for some popular sightseeing. My friend and I basically just needed a place to keep our things and sleep for the night. We shared the floor with another room, but never ran into the other guests. If you're use to the college lifestyle where you share a kitchen and bathroom, then this place is fine. We had no issues with the communal space. The floors however were SUPER squeaky that I woke up my friend at 4am when I had to get up, and later he woke me up at 6am because of the noisy floor. That was probably the only downside. The breakfast was fine, nothing upscale. Just Bagels, cereal, yogurt, orange juice, coffee, but really, I'm in Manhattan, there were other places I wanted to eat at, this continental breakfast was just an appetizer. All in all, the place was quaint, clean and hospitable, I would definitely stay there again.

Hotel Lotus New York

Posted Jan 10, 2012 on Hotels
A great little hotel! Entrace looks like a "hole in the wall" but upstairs each floor has two two-room suites; each general suite area has the bathroom, kitchen(!) and table w/chairs, while your room (private secure entrance) has a double & single bed, writing table, flat-screen TV, faux fireplace and hardwood floors! Plus a continental breakfast downstairs in the morning! Friendly, helpful staff.

Best location!

Posted Jan 3, 2012 on Hotels
First thing when my girlfriend and I got there, the person at the front desk told us that we got upgraded! Which was awesome. We had initially booked a 2 twin bed room, and we were upgraded to a room with 5 QUEEN size beds. It was actually 2 rooms and an upstairs. WE LOVED IT. It was really clean, too. I believe the best thing about Lotus is its location. It is next to the empire state building, which is like a hotspot for a lot of stuff. Lotus is also only a few blocks away from times square, which is great! I highly recommend this hotel especially if you are going to New York for a vacation or exploring the city!

Lotus Hotel --we'll stay there again

Posted Dec 20, 2011 on Hotels
The Lotus Hotel is close to the Empire St Building and within walking distance of museums, restaurants, the subway and bus stops. The no-frills room was clean, a reasonable size, there was minimal street noise, and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom, shared with one other room, was very clean. The 2 rooms also shared a small kitchen area. The staff at the front desk were polite and provided very good customer service. The continental breakfast consisted of: coffee, tea, hot chocolate, orange juice, milk, 3 cereals, oatmeal packs, yogurt, and bagels.
