Great location, location, location

Posted Sep 19, 2017
Pros: Location.
Cons: Cleanliness and professionalism of the staff.
Location: You are a short walk to everything! Broadway, 5th avenue shopping, Madison avenue shopping, not too far from Central Park. Great location!!!
The hotel is one of the best as far as its location is concerned. The architecture is great and redolent of 1920s, 30s etc. But the room was filthy. Thick dust on the desk and lamps and over the mirror; grainy remnants in the bathtub. The telephone operators were rude and the concierge staff was either absent or not all that happy to be helpful. It's a shame because this building and location could make this one of NYC's finest.

Needs updating , close to some attractions

Posted Sep 19, 2017
The hotel has a charming lobby and a small bar area. And that's about it . There are 6 elevators but it seems that only 2 of them work ; the elevator stops at every floor on the way up and on the way down , with people desperately waiting to get on at very floor. The bathroom are small and old and need updating. It's walking distance to Rockefeller center and some nice restaurants

Comfortable hotel in a great location

Posted Sep 17, 2017
I was initially skeptical about staying at The Roosevelt as I had heard some negative things about this hotel such as rude staff, long waits for checkin, cold water and frequent queuing for the elevators. However, when staying here none of these things were true for me. Both my checkin and checkout were extremely quick and the staff were very polite, friendly and efficient. My room, although a little dated was extremely clean, the shower water was always hot and the bed was very comfortable. The location of this hotel is excellent, especially for anyone wanting to easily explore the midtown area of Manhattan. Overall I was more than satisfied with the hotel and would definitely stay here again if I returned to Manhattan and wanted to be in the midtown area. The only slightly annoying aspect of The Roosevelt is the compulsory $20 daily facilities fee to access the wi-fi and gym. As the fee is mandatory I feel it should just be rolled into the cost of the room when advertised, however I was aware of this before travelling here and had set the extra money aside.

The hotel is in a good location There is no snake bar or Main dinning room where i can get a 5 course dinner, or even a coffee bar The hotel is old and shows signs of its age Hotel staff is friendly and try to help There are no DO NOT ENTER SIGNS on the door, so the maid will knock, and then just enter

Great location for exploring

Posted Sep 17, 2017
Pros: Location,lobby.
Cons: Redecorating, quieter air con, and staff training in the respect that tips are based upon service, not just for turning up.
Lobby was amazing, corridor's were tired looking and the room was small and required an update to most European hotels. Additional chargers and constant reminders/demands for tips worn thin pretty quickly.

Great location. Comfortable bed. Great bar and lobby. A bit dated. Lack of information in rooms, re: room service, or hotel amenities etc. Needed an information sheet/folder as front desk constantly busy.

Faded Beauty

Posted Sep 15, 2017
Pros: Beautiful lobby
Cons: Room quality and staff friendliness
Location: Close to Grand Central
The Lobby and main areas of this hotel are stunning. The rooms are very small which is no unexpected in NYC but they also have just not been taken care of over the years. The wallpaper in the bathroom is irregularly cut and halfway folds over the top tiles, there were no wash cloths until we literally had to demand some and there was red staining (hopefully not mold) in a couple areas of the bathroom. The staff was rude and acted like they were doing us a favor allowing us to stay there. The one exception was a very nice older housekeeper who was very sweet. The elevators are slow, not fully operational and at some times would take 10 - 15 minutes to even open on our floor. Will never stay here again which was a sentiment shared by some fellow guests.
