Nice hotel about 20 minutes away from DowntownPosted Sep 2, 2017
Cons: Staff, AC, elevator.
So we had this recommendation from a friend who lives in the area. We got into town around 3:30AM. The person who was checking us in was asleep on the couch. She didn't say much, didn't ask for my ID, or a Credit Card, just asked for my name, had me sign a piece of paper, gave me keys and told me to go up the stairs cause the elevator was broken. I also asked if we could do a late checkout, as checkout here is 11, and we got in so late that we were both exhausted and wanted as much sleep as possibly before moving on in the AM. I was told I had to check with the morning staff. The person I was traveling got up to have breakfast, and asked about a late checkout, they gave us 30 extra minutes. Woo! Overall, the room was VERY nice, but the AC doesn't circulate well. I was nearest the AC, and I froze all night, whereas the rest of the room was pretty warm/hot. The area was nice and quiet, with a lot of food and shopping options. The River Street was only about 20 minute drive away.

A Needed RenovationPosted Aug 31, 2017
Pros: Comfortable beds, convenient location, good shopping, plenty of free parking, easy access to Downtown Savannah and Tybee Island.
Cons: Get the elevator in service, finish out all the details of the renovation that are left undone. Don't allow parking in the entrance.
Location: Midtown is where all the stores are, so shopping is easy. You can get on the Truman Pkw and be Downtown in 20 minutes or go out to Tybee in about 40 .
This hotel used to be the Oglethorpe Inn but is now the Comfort Inn Midtown. They have undergone an extensive renovation to meet the Comfort Inn standards, but they have not finished it yet. One big problem is that they put in a new elevator but it hasn't been inspected, so it can't be used. Lots of details with the finishing out have not been addressed. Another annoying problem was they let a guest park his motorcycle under the main entrance portico, so all the other guests had to walk around it to get in and out of the hotel. The new beds are very comfortable, but the lack of a light blanket was puzzling? They only supplied an extremely heavy comforter. There are lots of good hotels in Savannah, and eventually, this one may be finished.

Quaint hotel nice areaPosted Jul 19, 2017
The hotel is located in an ideal place for shopping. Right across from Oglethorpe mall. Nice interior although slightly old. Elevator was hot and musty. Blow drier in the room didn't work. "Suite" was one open room. Caulking in the tub wasn't finished well and the bathroom door slightly warped. However, nice beds and room overall. Friendly staff. Great breakfast which was continental and eggs and sausage. Great coffee.

Nice Hotel and Very Professional, Friendly StaffPosted Jul 13, 2017
This was our second time at Comfort (formerly Oglethorpe) Inn since we loved it so much the first time. The colonial style of the "courtyard" (dining area) is really unique. The rooms we've stayed in were spacious and clean. Housekeeping and front desk staff were always polite, professional, and efficient. The hotel is only 14 miles away (approximately a 20-minute drive) from Tybee Island and around 4 miles from the River. All and all, an excellent place to stay while one visits Savannah and Tybee.

Convenient to grandkidsPosted Jul 10, 2017
Spacious room, good bed but hard to control temp on AC. Only complaint was the price was high, especially after the unexpected additional taxes were added.

Great stayPosted Jun 24, 2017 on Hotels
We've stayed here before when it was the Oglethorpe Inn & have always liked it. It's under a new name now but it's still a great place to stay. The room was huge & the bed was super comfortable.
