Front desk staff is horrible. Did not feel welcome

The room is beautiful. And the lobby had cookies and coffee. Hotel looks new. Expensive. Had a long drive in from Indianapolis in freezing temps. The front desk staff acted as if I was putting her out by checking in! Not so much as a hello. It looked like her boyfriend was waiting for her in the lobby as he walked off when I arrived. Asked for my drivers license and credit card number immediately and didn't so much as look at me! I would expect this from a $40 Hotel. But when paying $105, say hello at least and make me feel welcome?!

Not too happy

After a quick decision to extend our trip by starting one day earlier than planned, I picked the Hampton Inn on hotels.com because of the excellent reviews and because I had stayed at other Hampton Inns. I pre-paid the room charge. Our check-in started the stay off on a poor note. I was asked to slide my card and a charge of $141.60 showed up on the machine. I said that I had already paid for my room. I was told that this charge was for incidentals and would be credited within three days. I was not happy about this. As far as the hotel itself, our room was clean, the coffee in the lobby was good and the breakfast was the usual free hotel fare of mediocre breakfast foods. There was no place to hang clothes in our room except for some small hooks in the bathroom that were behind the toilet and over the top of a picture. The exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work. The beds looked rumpled when the duvet and top sheet were pulled back. The staff was friendly and helpful at check-in and both times I called them since I returned home and found that I still had a charge on my credit card for the room I had pre-paid for through hotels.com. Three times I was told that it would be about three days before the charge would be removed and show up on my credit card account. Yesterday was the 12th day since I checked in so I called my credit card provider and filed a disputed transaction claim.

Housekeeping Issues

Check-in was typical but not overly friendly. The bed did not appear to be freshly made. Pillowcases were wrinkled on both beds. The duvets were also wrinkled. When the covers were turned back we found hairs in both beds. After notifying the front desk of this room's condition they gave us a different room. The second room did not appear to be much better. No hairs were found in the beds, but the bedding still appeared wrinkled and not freshly made. There were some small stains on the sheets of both beds. In addition, hairs were found in the bathtub. We accepted the room but asked the desk to clean the tub while we left for dinner. We did not feel comfortable sleeping under the sheets. Another guest also commented on the wrinkled bedding in his room. This motel location is not typical of other Hampton's we have stayed in. In fact the next motel on our trip was also a Hampton's Inn and the difference was night and day.

My family and I enjoyed our stay. We loved the fact that there was an indoor pool and full breakfast served.
