Last one I swear! but...so majestic. On the south side of Terrell hall lies the archway of GCSU. A stomping ground for frats and sororities alike to call out their battle cries. When not in use by the drunk lots, it is a place for alumni, and graduating classes to take photos. This covered path was made in the early 1900s' about a decade after the school opened. Terrell hall is one of the oldest halls on campus and still has students living it in to this day. Often overlooked by bigger schools like UGA and GT this smaller campus offers an extremely wide education with a healthy student body. Some of the best years f my life were spent here, and also some of the best stories spent around here. I named it Alex. Alex and I had a very interesting relationship.
Alex lived on a pond near my apartment. Every few days I would go out to play tennis or run on the trail here. I would occasionally bring my camera because Alex was here almost every day. Alex presided over they pond, and it was filled with small sunfish and bass.
Our relationship began contentiously. I would get about 100 feet away and Alex would fly off. For weeks this happened until one day I was sitting on the side of the pond with my dog and Alex walked up next to me, about 5 feet away. After that our relationship started to improve. Alex would allow me to get closer. Over the next two years I came out to photograph this one bird. Occasionally Alex would want privacy, but more and more I was able to get extremely close. It is to this day the only wild animal I have ever built such a relationship with.
Here was one of the catches I watched.

A closeup of Alex. When I was allowed to get within a few feet. Another amazing part is this photo is about 8 years old! Looks really good for 8 years old, right? At Georgia College State University roughly half the school, members of the community, and Alumni came together to remember that eleven years ago this country will never forget those we lost and what it means.
And now, what more recent tragedies can also never be forgotten, just remembered. Blue heron in flight over the pond at Walter B park in Milledgeville. Always a great place to see this guy. I call this smiling world. I Went out to the park and tried it, I think you all will enjoy it as well. I want to try it in an urban setting soon. I'm going to show you how to do this fun little trick.
1) take a 360 degree panorama (any pano app).
2) take panorama and flip it, so sky is on bottom of picture.
3) either use polarizing filter in app or on computer, this will create circular effect.(pc/Mac: adobe PS is what I used, but I know most photo edit programs can do it.)
4) retouch, enjoy!
