I wouldn't let my dog stay there. Beyond terrible. I could write a novel.

Hotel Astor Milwaukee

Certainly a nice hotel. Would have liked to know it was under renovation and that the lounge/bar would be closed during our stay.

Room too hot, no way to adjust temperature. Television didn't work. Moved to new room-same problem. Left hotel as a result.

Old hotel

Posted Mar 7, 2017
This hotel is old and outdated. We were originally assigned a room with no beds, furniture, curtains or lamps. Staff said they would move furniture into this room...?! We waited an hour for a different room. This room had furniture and several pigeons (20+) on the window ledge! There are several nice hotels in Milwaukee, look elsewhere for somewhere to stay

Quaint hotel on the lower east side.

Posted Mar 6, 2017
Pros: I liked the price of the hotel, location and friendly staff.
Location: Located south of downtown on the lower east side of Milwaukee in a more residential area. Close to the lake and some local restaurants and pubs.
Found this hotel deal for a girls weekend we were having in Milwaukee. It was perfect. The hotel is very old with lots of old school charm. The room was huge. Tons of character in this place, plus the staff was very friendly. They are currently remodeling the hotel, but I hope they retain all of this hotel's original character. Big parking lot in the back for a bargain was a plus. The room did get a little too warm, but it was winter and it is likely difficult to control the temperature in these older buildings. I just opened the window and we were fine.

Neat hotel with a taste of the past.

Posted Jan 20, 2017
The Astor Hotel is a neat hotel where the 20s/30s classicness meets modern. I loved that they still use real key doors. The main lobby and cafe were getting a face lift and fresh paint. My room was spacious and the bed was a firm comfortable one. I loved the old tile floors and bathroom fixtures. The heat worked great, so great that I cracked a window to get the temperature just right. The staff was friendly and they checked my bag for a couple of hours after I checked out so that I could explore before heading out for my flight. I definitely would stay at the Astor again and recommend it!

Horriable

Posted Dec 18, 2016 on Hotels
The hotel was nothing like described in the info. There was paint chipping off the walls, holes in the bathroom floor tile, smoking in the hallways, and the room was tiny. It had a very musty smell and the people there were so disrespectful and non helpful. I would not recommend this and was very very disappointed in my stay. I will never stay there again.

Do NOT stay here in the winter!!!!

Posted Dec 12, 2016
Pros: I liked that it was an old building and had great character. The rooms were clean.
Cons: Heat, blinds/curtains that cover the whole window, broken window pains. Water dripped from every faucet.
Location: We went to the Foundation Bar and Cafe at the Plaza for breakfast the next day which was great!
I understand that this is an older building but the room temperatures were completely unacceptable and I am from Wisconsin! We got to our room and you could feel the cold air coming right through the "closed" windows. It couldn't have been more than 50 degrees in the room, if that. I tried to call the front desk and the phone didn't work. We went down to the front desk and the person there said that they only heat the building to 50 degrees and asked if "I knew how much it would cost to heat the building to 70?!" We asked to be moved to a different room, which he did but that room was just as cold. The hallways were warm. We were told to open the heat registers. After doing so it did NOT get to an acceptable temperature even by the next morning. Also if you want the room to be dark while sleeping you will not have that either. The blinds didn't cover the width of the window and the tops of the windows are windowed as well with no blinds or curtains. Also the water dripped from all the faucets which made it hard to get good sleep.
