Ranger House at Glacier Hills County Park in the Heart of the Kettle Moraine!

Lakefront vacation home with kitchen and patio
The Glacier Hills Ranger House is located in Glacier Hills County Park and is located on what geologists term an interlobate moraine. Between ten and twenty thousand years ago, the Green Bay and Lake Michigan Glacier Lobes butted against each other. When they receded, approximately 10,000 years ago, they left the interesting and unique landform we call the Kettle Moraine.

The park was originally developed as St. Amelians Orphanage Youth Camp and became a Washington County Park in 1976. The park consists of 140 acres of land and includes approximately 1,200 feet of frontage on Friess Lake.

The rental house is located just 150' from the Main Hall & Chapel, which often holds large events and weddings throughout the year (weddings often go until 11:00 pm - 12:00 pm on Saturday evenings and can be heard from the house). The house has 4 bedrooms and can sleep up to 12 people, a great place to stay for groups attending events at the park. There are 1.5 bathrooms, a laundry room, full kitchen, living room, and a private deck and backyard.

Work Retreat
Always a good time at the Ranger House!

Great Stay!
Quick responses from property manager, easy check in/out, house was clean with things to keep the kids busy - board games, cards, balls, playground close by. The house was located on a dead end road so it was perfect for the kids to play and ride their scooters. The extra showers close by was great since we had 12 people.

Wonderful Peaceful Getaway
A beautiful county park that makes you feel like you're staying up north but gives you easy access to Milwaukee and all of its numerous suburbs. The Kettle Moraine can't be beat and we enjoyed several trails around the cabin on county park property and a short drive away. Some of the furniture arrangements were different than the pictures (ie. No beds were bunked and one of the sofas was switched out for one with even more seating. Not a big deal for us!) Plenty of space for a group; we were just a family of 5- our boys are already asking for a return trip. We would happily book again and recommend for others!

4/5 Good

Cold, quick stay
It was chilly during our stay so we didn’t enjoy much outside time in the area. It was a nice house. It was large and clean. We are a little nervous because not all the windows locked. Also in the kitchen the aluminum foil was left in the drawer but it was empty so a little bummer. The kitchen did not have any hot pads or oven mitts to remove pans from the stove. Nor was there any dish towels in the kitchen. It was very large for the two of us and the cleaning fee seemed pretty steep (especially since there was still some garbage on the floor in the back bathroom). Also check in for my vehicle didn’t work so the host had to help me get registered. But it was a nice place and we enjoyed our time. We want to stay again but with better weather and more people. Thanks!
